The poles are very thick and they all screw together. The great thing about that is it doesn’t bend in the middle when its extended out. However, the slightest touch and it goes either falls backwards or forward. Maybe the weights need to be placed at the top instead but definitely need to keep it from falling over. We placed a box behind it and tied to don’t wouldn’t move.

Bought one stand for posters for my rock band during show and worked okay for $45. Needed a second one and ordered this instead for $39. Huge difference in build quality. Sturdiness comes from the locking mechanism (threads) and thicker metal used. It is not diameter of tube but thickness that makes it sturdy. Also smaller pieces gives a lot more flexibility in sizes of stand and packs into a smaller product. Needless to say, I returned the first one and got another one of this for the second poster. Well worth the price and would compete against stands twice the price! Happy with the purchase

The stand is very light weight make sure you have maybe bags of rice or sandbags to hold it from tipping over.
