The working and is thick for an EXD 11/12. It’s great for practicing instrumentation but I wouldn’t recommend using on patients. It won’t accurately detect all abnormalities on the tooth.

Nicely balanced on both ends. Comparable to name brand perio explorer. Time will tell how well it holds up. So far they have retained their shape after several cycles through the autoclave.

There’s nothing in store to compare with - they sell toys for cleaning your teeth. This tool is a Maserati - and how do I know? Well I bought some dental tools at the Army Navy Surplus store - old style knurled handle with a couple of basic shapes. Compared to this new Wise Explorer tool, the Wise is twice as light but feels substantial in hand with nice grips, but more importantly- it has very thin yet strong tips to clean in the fine cracks of your molars and has just the right bends to get around and between your teeth. I know it is only for exploring (not cleaning) but it’s the very best I can find - dental offices refuse to sell you any professional tools. But who cares - this is even better that what the dentist used in me. The only negative is that I wish I could buy more cleaning shapes. Thank you for making this available. That’s why I don’t have to pay to get my teeth clean - know the shape and take you’re time cleaning as if it were a tooth pick while watching your favorite tv show.
