The original screw inserts for my chair lost their threaded insert (pulled out) and these directly dropped in.

I bought a motorized sit/stand desk at an auction. It was missing these inset nuts and I wasn’t sure of what size I needed to replace them. This set had the perfect size and quality to replace them. Fast on-timer arrival, too.

I have used to hang a shelf by screwing in these insert nuts into the side of the shelf, screwing in a short bolt and then supporting the shelves using the exposed bolt heads in slots in the mounting surface. On a new project I will be screwing in the insert nuts into the under surface of an old mantle clock to mount feet with threaded fixers to support the clock off the surface it rests on.

The inserts seem to be OK for what they are intended to do. No info provided on what size hole is recommended for each insert size. Therefore you need to do a bit of trial and error... Attempt installation on a piece of scrap material first to determine best hole diameter and depth for the tightest fit. The type of wood you're installing these in may affect the hole diameter you need to drill and avoid splitting the wood or breaking the insert from too much torque going in.I used a couple of M6 inserts for an adjustable height desk top attachment and they worked out well, but had to guess a bit on the best hole size. In a quite soft wood the 3/8" drill bit worked fine for the M6 insert, but you could probably go 5/16" to get a tighter fit. I haven't tried those in hardwood, but expect these inserts will be problematic with it. For hardwood you'll most likely be better with the knurled brass or steel pressure inserts.

I used these inserts to set up my radial arm saw on my bench and the work very well. It would be nice if they included a drill reference chart for the inserts, but I was able to figure the drill size with my calipers.

As all mass produced items there has to be defects, had a few that was completely useless but its not all bad, still completed my project. The inserts are a bit thin & need to work on quality control.

The inserts worked fine for the project I was doing. My only complaint it the box was cracked and the box is molded in one piece and folded together at the hinge. It had already split apart. A shame because it's a good size and has moveable dividers. I usually throw these away and go get a Plano tackle box from Bass Pro that's about the same size. The inserts are a great deal even with this minor issue.
