I used to have a tri-pod stand very similar to this one, with a couple of differences, which are where this one comes up just a little short. One key difference is this stand doesn't come with a little carrying bag, which it absolutely should. With two separate pieces that have no convenience way of attaching when the product is folded up, this isn't "Perfect for Musicians to Carry Around". A carry bag would make it a lot easier. The other difference is more minor: the bottom of the flared bell part of the stand has three felt pads that are meant, I assume, to grip a clarinet (or possible oboe or sop sax)... when this item arrived, one of the three had already come off and a second was curling off... so the glue used is obviously sub-par. A minor issue but if you're going to have those pads, they should be attached properly.Otherwise, you have one fixed metal 'leg', and two others that fold out to make the tri-pod. The leg mechanism seems very sturdy and likely to last a long time. This is the best part of the item. The top section seems to be made out of some kind of plastic composite with a threaded screw to attach it to the bottom section. It's sturdier than the flimsy kind you can store inside your clarinet bell, and it's being sold currently at a budget price. If you don't mind having to keep track of the two separate pieces, it's worth picking up. Otherwise there are probably better options. 3.25 stars. "It's okay"!

This is a very sturdy metal foldable tripod stand for woodwind instruments. My wife plays clarinet, and got this, and likes the design overall, although she had a bit of difficulty in pushing in the spring-loaded tabs that allows you fold the legs. Not a deal breaker, but be aware it takes some effort.Other than that, it's quite nice - stable, well-made, and with a nice finish.
