Why have I wasted so much time using other types of releases!?! This release may take a few tries to find the right tension settings, but after you do, it’s consistent. The same tension required to release every time - until you adjust the screws again. It seems to be durable and corrosion resistant too.

I do a fair amount of trolling with down riggers on my boat and have always used the standard line releases that come with the downriggers and they seemed to work fairly well. I recently went fishing with a guide who uses these exclusively. I had never seen these and was not aware that they even existed until I fished with the guide who has become a friend. Anyway, the following day, I purchased these and they are (dare I say) the best. If you troll with down riggers, just buy these. You will not be disappointed.
