About this item

  • This focal reducer/corrector lens works with all Celestron 5", 6", 8", 9 1/4", 11" and 14" Schmidt-Cassegrain telescopes.
  • Four-elements design, fully multi-coated optics, increase the transmittance of light
  • It can reduce the focus of your telescope to F6.3 without changing the image quality
  • Converts f/10 optical system to faster f/6.3 which can increase the field of view and reduce the exposure time in astronomical photography
  • Aluminum alloy frame and all optical glass lens material

Skyoptikst F6.3focal reducer/corrector is suitable for Celestron 5 "6" 8 "9" 11 "and 14" Schmidt Cassegrain SCT telescope, zenith mirror at SCT port, etc., metal structure, two groups of four-piece design, full-band multi-layer coating, which can reduce the focus of your telescope to F6.3 without changing the image quality. This zoom lens/corrector can make the focal ratio of C5, C6, C8, C9.25 become f6.3; The focal ratio of C14 becomes f7.
The use of this zoom lens can increase the field of view and reduce the exposure time in astronomical photography. Skyoptikst does not provide the Schmidt Cassegrain telescope of F6.3 because such a design is impossible, and there will be a large central occlusion, which will lead to the reduction of contrast. The defocus lens/corrector of this f6.3 is a 4-piece design with full surface coating. The use of this zoom lens has a good performance in photography.

Got this to go on my brother's 8 inch Celestron schmit-cassegrain telescope to take pictures of the total solar eclipse, so I would have a wide enough field of vision to get the whole Sun in one picture. Normally you could only see part of the Sun (or moon). I want to use it to take some pictures of the full moon, with my Canon 70D, but have not so far. This combined with the "Telescope Camera T2 Adapter Ring Set, M42x0.75 Male T2 to SCT Female Telescope Photo Adapter Aluminum Alloy SCT Adapter..." worked great. It gave you the right distance (50mm, I think) plus 5mm from the T-ring adapter for a total of 55mm. I already had the Canon T-ring adapter so this kit had the one for a Nikon, but it was only a few days until the solar eclipse so install and getting it on time was more important.

Overall, I need to test it a bit more. Needed it in a hurry, and bought a more 'budget friendly' reducer. Now I have to learn how to remove CA. Performed the focal reduction nicely, however. Need to test with a different camera to verify concerns.
