I ordered one of these to replace one of the exact same model number that we've had for several years. The one we received looked very different and was of very poor quality. The clamp/head still moved around on the post, even with the knob fully turned as tight as it would go. The color(s) also seemed off. We though that there is a good chance the one we received was counterfeit because it was nothing like our "old" one. If what we received actually is a Fowler, I wouldn't ever buy one because the quality was horrible. We returned the first one we ordered and opted to receive another from Amazon. The second one came and was just like the first so we returned that one as well.

Other brand dial gauge stands are 2 to 3 times more money, this stand is good quality for the cost, this stand work's good for case gauge's to check headspace when reloading ammo. I would have given it 5 star's but I had to clean out the 3/8 hole the dial indicator goes in with a 3/8 drill bit because they had a build up of the finish coating.

I was looking for a relatively inexpensive indicator stand to measure a fixed dimension on a production part. Most of the inexpensive stands have a clamp arrangement with poor a adjustment hardware. This one looked better in the pictures so thought I'd give it a try. The work area is only 3" x 3" which is not the impression I get from the picture. 3" x 3" is too small to move the machined workpiece around to check the dimension at several points so had to return.
