Tips for Use IDE/SATA to USB 3.0 Converter
- If the hard drive is spinning but not appearing in Disk Management, consider performing a format and repartitioning. It's possible that your current partitioning method may not be compatible with this adapter
- The disks should be partitioned before use if they are not already, as this will ensure that the computer recognizes them and they appear in Disk Management.

product works ok, but the power plug is only 1ft long, so you have to sit on the floor next to a plug in order to use it. THink they could spend the 5 cents and make it long enough to reach a table.

I have one broken desktop and three old laptops with old photos videos of my kids stating from 2007 ; the price of the recovery device was so cheep, I bought one to try it out; I swear Within one minute of removing it from the box I was already transferring all of my old photos videos and documents, even my old favorite, secret private downloaded videos; one thing don't loose the special USB cord ,or you will have to buy another compete unit like I did , it's very user friendly just plug it in and drag and drop

I was worried it would actually work with my old pc hard drive, but it did. Very easy to use and I absolutely recommend it.

A friends Dell PC, somewhat old, finally gave up yet they had no backups of their personal files. Took apart the tower, removed the HDD, attached it to this kit and connected to new laptop via USBC... pretty simple to do. The new laptop found the new drive and could access the files.JFYI: the old HDD was a Windows NTFS volume so had to take ownership of the drive so that the laptop could access the lost files... used the windows takeown command.

This kit worked with 2 hard drives, a 3 tb and 5tb. Has an on off switch which is nice because you don’t have to disconnect any wires to turn it on/off. Fan is super quiet. Seems well built.

I have seen many positive reviews for this product on Amazon-- unfortunately I am not one of those. I have used this product about 7 times as I brought files over to a new computer from various "old" hard drives that I have accumulated -- that had files on them that I wanted to keep. It work flawlessly... until it didn't!! I used it about 7 times over a month and 1/2; and when I went to turn it on this last time-- it was dead!! I had noticed that the "source hard drives" sitting on my desk that were exposed to the open air still got extremely hot after a short time of use-- maybe they are supposed to do that.. or maybe there is an issue with my unit? I attempted to go through Amazon to contact the seller.. and that proved unsuccessful-- also no mention of any kind of warranty by the seller and I am 45 days outside of a "return window" -- so it is my suggestion that buyers beware -- by being informed. Oddly enough-- with all of the positive reviews of this product on Amazon-- it is also mentioned by Amazon that this device is one of the most frequently returned items of this type to them. I am still trying to reconcile that "oddity" in my mind.
