I don’t know why, but I was intimidated by the idea of baking sourdough. I kept a starter in my fridge for two years before finally working up the courage to bake a loaf. Now, I’m kicking myself for waiting so long! It wasn’t nearly as hard as I imagined—especially with the tools in this 14-piece sourdough starter kit.I absolutely love the bread sling and the two bannetons, which help give my loaves the perfect shape and crust. Everything in the kit is well-made and makes the process so much easier. My bread has turned out delicious, and I’m officially hooked. This is such a fantastic collection. The bowls work great for my dough and they are super easy to rinse. The jar is great as well. My only complaint is that the silicone sling thing technically doesn’t go hot enough for the function for what it’s used for. It’s totally standard to bake sourdough at 450 and sometimes even hotter. So to have a mat that doesn’t go that hot is a slight problem. But other than that it was a great value for what all it included.

Overall the kit is good, but the jar broke(chipped) after a few weeks.I bought this to try my hand at making sourdough bread and thought the kit was a well thought out kit with everything we would need. The jar was the main thing I was looking for. It worked well at first-its a straight walled glass jar. I would have preferred both metric and imperial measurements, but ml are fine. Having the 2 covers (cloth and wooden) was nice.After our last batch of bread I decided to handwash the jar again and left it in the sink with warm water to soften the dried starter. I came back a while later and someone had put some other dishes in the sink, not a lot, and the jar was out of water, so I filled it up and then noticed a small chip on the bottom edge where the sidewall meets the bottom was leaking water, super strange place for a chip to be taken out that goes all the way through the jar. I've never seen anything like that before. There were no other cracks or anything else, nor were there any chips out of the top edge where one would expect them to happen.I like the kit but for the jar to be that fragile leaves me somewhat apprehensive about the whole kit. A thicker glass or a tempered glass might be more robust but not something I would even have looked for before this. I'll get some use out of the rest of the items but I'm on the fence on whether or not it was worth it.

I love this kit. It has everything. My favorite part is probably the starter jar. I love that it has so many details and yet it’s simple and easy to use. I especially love the temperature gauge. The silicone bowls were very easy to clean after using them& they store nicely. I’m not 100% sure on if you’re supposed to put them in the oven or not, it looks like you can bake them up to like 450 but I bake my bread at 500. But either way they didn’t stick to the bread while it was proofing and the loaves came out nicely when it was time for final shaping. Overall I absolutely love it and it has been so helpful.

I wanted to buy a danish whisk but saw this kit and decided to get it instead. For the price, I wasn't sure that the quality of the materials would be great. However, the danish whisk if very sturdy, the jar with lid is top quality and the bowls have worked out great for me as well. Definitely recommend this kit if you are getting into sourdough!
