The magnets in this rack are plenty strong enough to pull magnetic nanoparticles to the side of the tube, and pretty quickly, in just a minute or so for small tubes, a few minutes for larger tubes. They fit standard 5 ml round bottom tubes, 1.5 ml microfuge tubes, and 0.2 ml PCR tubes, but not 0.5 ml microfuge tubes.The holes are a bit larger than they need to be, so the 5 ml and 1.5 ml tubes are not snug in place. The tip of a 1.5 ml tube will extend a bit below the bottom of the second hole on the bottom of the rack, so if you want a more snug fit with the wall of the tube closer to the magnet, you will need to prop up the bottom of the rack just a tad to make room for the tip.Overall, it's not a perfect design, but it works and costs way less than the magnets sold by name brand vendors.

I purchased the 15mL tube rack version so that I could use 5mL and 15mL tubes (and possibly even 1.5mL tubes when loosely placed in the rack). In general, this rack works as advertised (bit of a snug fit for conical tubes), and I was able to separate generic paramagnetic beads for nucleic acid and protein isolation. However, this does not work with kits that require proprietary high-gradient magnetic chambers for cell separation (e.g., MACS or EasySep systems), only low-gradient magnetic applications (e.g., ChIP). Overall, still a very cost-efficient rack compared to other commercial products.

The magnetic test tube rack is of excellent quality, and I find the price to be very reasonable. Its magnetic strength is quite strong. Although I haven't conducted any experiments recently, I tested it with other iron items and the magnetism was impressively strong. It fits my 1.5 ml centrifuge tubes perfectly.

I really love the build quality. Unfortunately, the 5 ml rack is too small to fit the 5ml eppendorf tube. End up with return.
