Inspired by the slowly simmered, heavily seasoned cuisines indigenous to North Africa, this 2-quart Moroccan Tagine by Le Creuset is a classic example of form following function. Its distinctive cone-shaped lid promotes natural steam circulation and allows for the constant return of condensation to the base, moistening ingredients and tenderizing tough fibers within cuts of meat. And because it's crafted from durable cast iron, the Moroccan Tagine retains heat longer and cooks food more evenly and thoroughly. Traditional Moroccan tagines (the dish is named for the cookware) typically include a combination of braised meat (often lamb, beef or chicken), fruits, root vegetables, nuts, and fragrant spices like cinnamon, saffron, and ginger. Measuring 12-4/5 by 12-4/5 by 11-2/5 inches, the Moroccan Tagine makes a thoughtful gift idea or a unique addition to any cook's collection.

As part of Le Creuset's line of enameled cast iron, the cookware's low-profile, high-heat, cast-iron base distributes heat evenly and provides superior heat retention--great for stovetop cooking, as well as for browning vegetables or meat before steaming. The Moroccan Tagine's colorful stoneware lid forms an excellent seal to keep moisture and heat inside, while its conical shape also helps moisture circulate throughout so there's no need to open, stir, or turn the tagine, making food preparation a snap. The cookware can be used on any stovetop surface, including induction, and be safely used in the oven (up to 500 degrees F) or under the grill/broiler for exceptional versatility. Beautiful enough for the table yet durable enough to outlive its lifetime limited warranty, the cookware should be hand washed for best results.

I admire the quality, finish and the whole tagine in all respects. We have bought Le Crueset Model 27 in 2017 and is being used in almost all family get together occassions. During these 8 years we have developed varieties of vegetarian dishes with pleasing visual appeal. Almost all dishes are allotted a respectful time of 2 hours with low and medium heat on Stove Top. We plan and organize specific fresh vegetables.I am sharing a few photos taken on this occassion with visual appeal and taste.Regards

I first encountered both Moroccan cuisine and Le Creuset's version of the classic Moroccan tajine in France several years ago. Only upon my return to the United States, however, was my desire for this obscure item finally fulfilled. As is the case with all Le Creuset cookware I've used, the tajine's heavy cast iron base distributes heat evenly and effectively. The tajine is essentially a braising device: the temperature differential between the hot base and the cooler ceramic top causes rising steam to condense, basting the contents as they cook. A simple tajine of chicken and sweet potato with stewed prunes or apricots and almonds produces impeccably moist chicken and well-cooked vegetables each and every time. I've yet to try my hand at lamb, but I anticipate similarly succulent results. The base alone serves equally well for small curries, sauces or stews. My only wish would be for a slightly larger tajine; the two-liter capacity is perfect for two to four people, but would be too small for any more copious meal. Ultimately, though, this is an unusual and unusually versatile and effective piece of cookware and I feel very fortunate to own one!

I loved using this piece of cookware until I noticed the enamel on the base is flaking off. It wouldn't be a problem if it was on the outside of the base, but it's on the inside, so I haven't used it since noticing. I see everyone else is very happy with theirs, so it might be that I got a defective one. Le Creuset wants me to pay for the shipping to send it back (both the top and bottom piece, even though the bottom is the only part with the problem) so they can evaluate it. It's pretty heavy, so I'm pondering whether to skip the shipping and just move to a different brand and toss this one. Hopefully nobody else will have this problem with theirs. Mine is about a year old, and I've used it maybe 10 times. Update: I decided to return the unit and they replaced it without a problem. I think the shipping was around $20, but hopefully this one won't have any issues. Another update: no problems with this new one. I may have been at fault for the flaking afterall - I had put the heat on high a couple times, to get it to heat up faster, and that probably caused the flaking. Be sure to keep the heat low at all times. It was well worth the $20 shipping charge to get another one. Very happy with this product. Upgraded to 5 stars.
