Sample, slice, transform and reconstruct audio to synthesize completely new sounds

LIVEN Texture Lab offers a wide variety of sound textures ranging from beautifully lush ambient pads to chaotically aggressive experimental noise that will take you to new sonic frontiers.

The Texture Lab uses a granular processor that slices sounds into grains ranging from 2 ms to 1 second in length, then transforms and reconstructs them in a variety of ways, including manipulating grain shape, density, time warp, spatial position, and playback method to create entirely new sounds.

Granular synthesis parameters are easily accessed from 10 knobs and are designed for intuitive control.

Granular synthesizer with granular effects processor mode

LIVEN Texture Lab is a 4-voice polyphonic synthesizer that can record 32 samples of up to 6 seconds, generate grains from any part of a sample, and synthesize them using two modulations sources, an envelope generator, and process the sound through different filter types.

The Texture Lab can also be used as an effects processor for real-time granular processing of stereo signals from the line input. It is also possible to freeze the flowing sounds for 6 seconds to add granulated sound effects.

3

Shimmer reverb for fantastical and majestic sounding spaces

LIVEN Texture Lab features six high-quality stereo reverb types. All reverb types have a shimmer parameter that allows you to layer reverb on top of reverb in octaves to create fantastical and majestic sounding spaces.

The shimmer reverb can also be applied to the stereo signal from the line input.

4

128-step sequencer with parameter locking

LIVEN Texture Lab is equipped with a high-performance 128-step sequencer that has earned the LIVEN series a solid reputation. In addition to recording notes, it can also record changes in granular processing parameters over time.

You can record knob operations in real time or directly record parameters to specific steps allowing for more complex sound textures.

5

World-famous sound designers have provided presets as results of their experiments

LIVEN Texture Lab is an experimental device for generating new sounds. The granular processing, invented by the contemporary composer ‘Xenakis’, is now essential sounds in the world of Art and IDM.

Explore nostalgic soundscapes that transports you to another world, as well as numerous ready-to-use synth programs. (Programs for the effects processor mode by the sound designers can also be downloaded.)

Create your own sounds with the Texture Lab and publish them as the result of your research! #LivenTextureLab

Grazie.

The idea of granular synthisis intriuged me enought to give this a shot, but I think I was expecting it to offer more in the direction of a sampler synth. You can make some really cool sounds and from a granular synth approach it delivers. I returned it and was considering the Lofi 12 instead but ended up spending a little more and got the Teenage Engineering EP-133 KO ii.

I really wanted to like this, but the interface is WAY too complicated. Given the price point, there are so many other options (NI Maschine Mikro being top of the list). I should’ve trusted the other reviews. It’s a glorified toy.

You're gonna love it! Cheapest way to get into granular and you have lots of control! The sound is decent but not crisp. Almost perfect for me.

I got one a week before the Roland one came out for less. From the reviews, this one looks better but its highly subjective. Watch actual reviews.

While I admit 90% of my attention has been devoted to the Sonicware Liven Ambient 0 synth, I also got one of these as my second Sonicware box. And I did have fun with it as its own thing, with both the included samples to drive the granular synth as well as my own. But the fun began when I started plugging things into the external input and putting the TextureLab into External FX mode. Oh my! My favorite thing so far is putting an old Suzuki MIDI Koto (yes, you read that correctly) into it, with the grains in reverse or random mode. Endless hours of fun!!! Yes, it's quirky cheap plastic hardware with a learning curve, but it SOUNDS AMAZING! Highly recommended, especially for the ridiculously low price.

I got the for the in line fx ability’s and it did not disappoint. After that I feel for its ability to sample and produce its own unique sounds. It checks all the other boxes to it has an arp mode, built in sequencer, can play poly or mono and a good amount of storage for sequences. There is a bit of menu diving but it’s not that bad. this one is actually pretty simple for a liven. So no matter how you use it you’ll find something you’ll like about this device.Follow up I wish I had two.

Wow what an amazing and inexpensive way to get into granular synthesis. You really don't need a fancy waveform screen to precisely chop trim and time stretch. I'm having a wonderful time with the Texture Lab. I don't think you can get this deep into granular at a lesser price.

I love the sound of this synth, but it came with a faulty 3.5mm main and headphone output. Only the reverb mix comes out and when the reverb is turned off nothing comes out! Super disappointing. It only works if the cable is halfway in and you're holding it.I received it tonight and in returning it on monday, what a pain.
