Bought this to set my total timing and also needed a rev limiter. Used on a 65 Mustang with 302. Was able to set my total timing easily with the included springs/clips and also easily set the max rev with a 9V battery. One very important thing was eliminating the resistor wire and getting a full 12v to the distributor. Before I had done that I was having issues starting and it was not fun.

I have a performance 289 with a TBI system installed. Have been fussing with the TBI for years and best I could do was maybe it won't leave me stranded. I finally got around to really looking into what could be wrong. What I found was a weak spark from my old ignition system. When I got the Pertronix distributor I set up the mechanical advance and advance curve for my engine then dropped it in. After getting the timing close, the car fired right up. Let it warm up and finished setting the timing. Car hasn't run this well is many years. Cold morning ( near 0F ) are no issue, used to be a drive something else affair if it was that cold. Driveability with this was night and day.My only complaints are the mechanical advance adjustment. The supplied tabs that float on a spring post are kind of lame. Something screw adjustable would have been much better, and it would have been nice to have a screw adjustment on the springs as well.The version I have is the Ignitor III and bought the Flame-Thrower III along with it. I have read some compatibility issues with the multi spark and some tachs. This also concerned me with the TBI because it senses RPM off the coil like a tach does. For me there was not an issue with the TBI or my electric tach, both are working normally. My guess is the multi spark is too fast and the tach and TBI don't care, can't sense the multi spark.

This distributor is awesome, instantly felt a power boost in conjunction with the 44011 Coil on my 65 Mustang 289 4 bbl. BE WARNED: It is a little over 1/4" taller than stock so I had to so some readjusting with my 22" oval air cleaner. Wouldn't reconsider my purchase but know that you may have to work with your air cleaner some.

Easy to install fantastic performance. The built in rev limiter is a nice feature. Slightly larger than a Ford small diameter distributor. For best performance get the correct coil for this distributor.
