We have owned this for 7 months. We have two cats, litter mates. One, Zorro, was very overweight at 26.8 lbs. The second, Callie, was at 12 lbs. We don't know why but cats, like children, are different. Zorro would eat and eat, and she was just picking and was happy. If either one of them went too long without eating they would throw up. We were obviously doing a poor job. We were feeding 1/2 can of food once a day, and 1/4 cup of food 2x a day. They would throw up on a weekly basis and nothing we did would help Zorro lose weight. So we took a risk and bought this feeder. It took a month or so to get the meal balances right, and at the lowest level that we could without...starving them. Using the Petkit feeder we feed them 4x a day.6:00AM 2/5 cup11:00AM 3/10 cup4:00 PM 1/4 cup9:00 Pm 2/5 cupWe have completely eliminated the canned food, it was our vet who we don't like who wanted us to feed that. We have cats before these two and NEVER fed them canned food. they were just fine.It has been MONTHS since the cats threw up because they were hungry. We weighed Zorro today and he was 20.2 lbs. Callie is the same. I will update this at 1 year where I expect Zorro to be another 4-5lbs down.As far as operating this feeder it is easy. You simply monitor the messages you get on your phone. It will let you know several feedings before it has no more food. It also lets you know when to replace the dessicant in the lid (its the white bad of stuff that keeps the food from getting too moist and spoiling(its in a lot of packaging). search the comments for the right one to get.the feeder has NEVER failed to feed our cats... I failed ONCE to add food when I needed to and they missed one meal. When we go away (albeit we only did this twice last summer to a remote family cabin which was covid safe) we set up a camera so we could verify the cats were getting fed when we were not there (crazy... why would that change??) and of course they were.If you are having similar issues with your cats as we were...or if you just want to make their dry food feeding easier this is a SUPER device. I have zero reluctance in recommending it. In the end... it will probably be responsible for Zorro having a happier, healthier, and LONGER life..CON - the only con I have is the app (and this a MINOR CON). It works... but it is frustrating. It was obviously created by people to whom English is a second language (good on them.... it is my ONLY language). This does cause some confusions but NOTHING that prevented me from using it. It did cause a few laughs on some things

I was very apprehensive about buying this feeder because of the mixed reviews, but it had all of the features that I wanted - wifi connection and app control, portion control, and safety, so I took the leap. I'm so glad that I did because this feeder works great and gives me peace of mind. Like most cats, mine is super skiddish so I thought that he would be wary of it at first, but it turns out that his food motivation outweighs his fear. As soon as it dispensed his first meal, he dove right in. Now, he gets 3 portioned meals throughout the day (in addition to his wet food that we give him) and he runs to the feeder as soon as he hears it dispensing. This gives us peace of mind that he is getting fed at specific times and cuts down on his vocal complaints to refill his food bowl. The app is very easy to use, but set up was a bit difficult at first. It took me several tries to get the feeder connected to the wifi, but after turned the local network setting on in the app's settings (on iphone settings), it connected easily. I have it set up in the living room in view of the pet cam so that I can monitor it to make sure it is working properly. Because the button door lifts open and dispenses, I don't have to worry about him investigating. He seems to love it and I certainly love it and the peace of mind!

Got 2 of these units on sale for the same price as the larger Petkit auto feeder. Night & day difference compared to our old feeder.Quality of construction is excellent. The fit, finish & materials are high quality.Taking the unit apart for cleaning is relatively easy. The feed shoot leading to the retractable door requires a long brush to clean out the area. But the inner food basket & tray are removable & easy to wash.Setup with the app can be a little bit of a challenge. Most importantly, you have to have a 2.4GHz Wi-Fi network for the Petkit to connect to. If you don't, it definitely won't connect to the internet. Read the instructions as they do help with the install. If the setup doesn't work the first time, repeat all of the steps again. This is what I had to do as Wi-Fi didn't connect the first time. But repeating all the steps again helped to get a successful connection.Once Wi-Fi is connected, you can configure all of the app settings. It's pretty comprehensive list of settings, allowing naming of the units, feeding schedules & amounts to dispense, dispense history & pet & pet food profiles. You can also push a snack manually thru the app in-between feedings. Only bad thing about the app is that only 1 person can be logged in at any given time.Battery backup retains all of the feeding schedules in case Wi-Fi/internet is not available. That's a big piece of mind if we get home late from work or we're out running errands. All in all, both units have worked flawlessly for us so far. We've been impressed with the units & has been easy for my tech averse wife to use. Even the cats were only apprehensive the first day. Now, when they hear the sound of food dropping, they bolt to the machines. Recommended.
