This adapter is okay for what it is. It's very cheap and appears to work for basic use cases on Windows.However, as other reviews mentioned it does not work at USB3 speeds with a Raspberry Pi without USB "quirks" mode enabled due to having a JMICRO controller. I spent a good amount of time troubleshooting this before coming across various forum posts and GitHub issues about the errors I was encountering.Additionally, the SATA connector seems loose and easily disconnects from the drive unlike another brand of adapter I tried.

Not enough power for desktop drives, but perfect for laptop drives.

I had a hard drive in a broken laptop with some data I wanted. I know I could have tried to run a live Linux distro off a USB stick and install the SSD into my current laptop, but this was plenty cheap and worked perfectly. Honestly, the cable is kind of short and stiff, but I don't see this as something for daily use. I'm sure it'd break after a while, but for me it was perfect

I purchased this inexpensive adapter to get data off one of my SATA drives. I was able to connct, it recognized the drive instantly and the transfer rate was excellent.I have since used it several times at work to do the same thing. It's compact so it's easy to carry around in my tool case.

This adapter worked great to connect an old laptop's hard drive to my computer to copy off the files. I just wish the wire was a little longer so I could rest it on top of my computer or on the shelf next to it, instead if letting it hang from outside the USB port (obviously this depends on your computer).

Works as advertise. The only problem I have with it, is the joint or the cable to the SATA adapter separates from the housing, exposing the cabling.
