Heavy cast-iron base, straight non-magnetic stainless steel pole - true and easy to assemble. This seems sturdy, definitely sturdy enough for our simple purposes (hobby chemistry). It's tall, and the base (well, three feet really - see photo) is wide. Weak point will likely be the stick-on base pads. The post arrived true and very smooth, and it was easy to screw it into the base.Price seems competitive, ~$39 at time of writing. 5 stars.

This review is for the stonylab Lab Stand, Laboratory Stand Support Triangular Tripod Retort Base Support Stand with Rod (23.86 inch L).I have several pieces of stonylab labware, and I have been pleased with the quality. One thing about the stonylab stand is the rod is only about 10mm in diameter. Much thinner than the rod on another lab stand I have. Yet on the other hand the stonylab stand is somewhat lighter and easier to carry. The stonylab is sturdy enough for my purposes.

It's a lab stand, they're pretty basic and have one job to do. This one has a cast iron base with a solid paint job and a stainless steel (non-magnetic) post. However I find that the post is a little crooked in the base, off by maybe a few degrees, due to the hole in the base being off. It threads into the base but loosens easily as there is no jamb nut or set screw. That could be fixed with some glue.

The Stonylab lab stand is a very solid piece of equipment. It is quite heavy, ensuring that it won't move around and will hold most lab equipment stably. The thread for the rod fits well and screws in easily to the base. This will be a great addition to my lab, providing reliable support for various experiments and equipment setups.

In the Amazon laboratory equipment landscape, Stony Lab products continue to make everything else looks amature. I'm not sure why I expected anything less.First things first... I thought I accidently ordered a dumbell when I picked up the box. When they say weighted, Stony Labs doesn't hold back! This stand puts all my previous 3 stand purchases to shame!I'm an Engineer turned hobby chemist, so I'm explorer as I journey through this discipline. I held back from purchasing this stand since there are cheaper ones out there, but you cannot argue with the value you get for the price. The stand puts the competition to shame. The vertical bar is thicker than the competition and screws in absolutely solid. That being said, I will probably need to upgrade my stand accessories to get the most out of this, but most clamps fit the bar.I'm praising this a little heavily, especially just for a lab/retort stand, but if you look at my last included picture... You will see "one of these things is not like the others"! Even visually compared to other stands, it's a great illustration of "Varsity" vs "JV".

I'm a career molecular biologist/biochemist with over 30 years of experience working at the bench. And I can tell you that the lab stand from stonylab is as good as it gets when it comes to professional-grade lab equipment. The stand is built with top quality materials, and features a heavy weight base with a generous footprint. This is one stand that will accommodate multiple clamp attachments, without running the risk of tipping over. It can easily handle the demands of any complex apparatus set-up, from column chromatography to distillation. If you can design it, this lab stand will take it.The only issue that some make wonder about is the price. At $38.99 it's definitely not cheap. But then again, neither is the stonylab lab stand. Like it or not, professional-grade lab equipment is built with high standards. And those standards usually translate to higher costs. It’s just the way it is, and from my experience, the asking price is just about what I would expect for a lab stand of this quality. So for me, the price is not an issue.Overall, this is fantastic product for the lab, and even the home. Indeed, I’ve inherited my share of lab equipment over the years that I now use at home, and lab stands are definitely a favorite. Because of their versatility supporting a range of activities. You just don’t know how useful they can be until you have one. Of course, by themselves they have limited utility. But attach a burette clamp or a retort ring and the imagination takes off. I enthusiastically recommend! Good Luck! ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

The Not So Good first: The base casting is kind of spotty. The casting itself shows a lot of roughness and porosity. The threaded hole arrived somewhat rusty. The "feet" are cheap (and thin) stick-on pads. The rod arrived with thread damage, and the top end showing some overheating discoloration, presumably from cutting and grinding.Still,It all comes together nicely! Go figure. The threading damage didn't hinder the rod from attaching freely to the base and it's straight and strong. The casting issues aren't attractive, but are essentially cosmetic. The feet can be replaced with something better and thicker to keep the base away from any errant liquids. I vastly prefer the triangular base to the more typical flat plate bases. Each has their own limitations, but the 3-point base has the virtue of being rock steady. So, despite some basic build quality and cosmetic issues (hence the 3 star rating), I like the stand and will use it. I strongly suggest the manufacturer fix the issues, though - they are really basic and easily corrected.

This stand is substantial. A wide heavy padded base and a straight talk post. The base is cast iron so its not going anywhere. A great value and it will work great in my shop for holding various items I'm working on.
