This new tailgate handle fit just like the OEM did . It was easy to install and swap lock cylinder from OEM unit . Tools= T30 for cover plate and 5/16 nut driver. See pics .

The quality made is way better than what I expected. Metal feel and easy to replace my old plastic handle to now a metal handle. Worth the price and the quality made definitely recommend to anyone who owns a Toyota Tundra.

I ordered the “All Metal” model for my truck. Be aware that they are not All Metal as claimed. They are mostly plastic with metal handle and some other portions of the latch mechanism made of metal. But again they are mainly plastic. It was shipped in a soft sided paper envelope with no protection. The first one I received had a broken plastic mounting tab on the bottom. Called Amazon and they shipped a replacement. I told them about the paper envelope not being sufficient to protect the item. Second one was shipped in the same soft sided paper envelope. This time the upper swivel portion that the slider rods connect to was broken off its plastic mounting plate.Since this still appears to be the best replacement latch available on Amazon, I again called Amazon and reordered the same one. They claim this time they have included instructions to have it wrapped in bubble wrap and shipped in a box. I guess I will see when it gets here.

Exact replacement of existing broken tailgate latch. Easy to install.Downside… this is the 2nd replacement meaning 2 have broken in the last 9 years.Recommend buying the aftermarket metal one available here.

This is a quality latch for my 2008 tundra that works as smoothly as the original factory handle. This latch looks and feels like great quality. It works identical to my other tundra tailgate, a 2014. 4 years ago, I tried a cheaper version when the handle broke 4 years ago on my 2008 tundra. The cheaper one never did work very smoothly. It was not even close to factory smoothness. And, it broke after 4 years. Although the hinges on all of them are plastic, these handle should last for the life of the truck. This one arrived mostly lubricated with grease. I went ahead and greased every single moving part. I also cleaned and lubricated the latches on both sides. I took this opportunity to replace the plastic rod clips at both latches since they were 13 years old. So, I wish I had purchased this one when the latch first broke 4 years ago. The latch that failed is no longer sold on Amazon, so you will not find that shoddy piece of garbage, thankfully. I was going to buy a backup latch after I installed this one since these seem to break frequently. However, after using the latch for a few days, I decided that I do not need a backup latch. This one works so smoothly, and there is very little force required to click it open, that I think it will last for as long as I have the truck. This is quality stuff right here.

The part came on time, as scheduled. The quality is ok, it’s not perfect like an oem part, but does the job quite good. There is a tiny gap between the handle and the plastic cover, but that’s minor that’s why also I gave 4 and not 5 stars. I will recommend it compare to the oem part cause if the price. Toyota’s price is ridiculous expensive for a piece of plastic.
