I received this recorder about a week ago, and so far I am very pleased with it. Here are my likes and dislikes:Likes:1) quick learning curve. Some functions required trial and error to understand, but I have only burned 3 coasters out of 15 recording attempts while learning to use it.2) It will record virtually any audio source. I have backed up vinyl LP's, CD's, Audio output from a TV, but have yet to try recording from a Laserdisc or input from a musical instrument (I'm pretty sure there will be no problem doing so).3) The ability to plug in and use a keyboard for disc and track titles is a major plus.4) The recorder flat out looks great in my entertainment system.5) The playback and recorded quality are excellent.Dislikes:1) The automatic track division function, while excellent for CDs, is pretty useless for vinyls (it usually does not divide between tracks, or divides during low levels within a track - I have adjusted the A-Track levels to no avail). The best bet for vinyls is to manually divide the tracks, that just means that you have to pay attention throughout the entire recording time.2) Use of the keyboard should be covered a little better in the manual. Through trial and error you will learn though.3) My biggest complaint (and maybe there is something I just have not learned yet) is that when you insert a new disc and start a recording you cannot abort the process and start again - the disc is a coaster (I made a coaster because I accidentally bumped my turntable during the first couple of seconds of track one). When you hit "Stop" some data is written to the disk.4) Once again, I may just have not learned some things yet, but it seems that using CD-RW discs when recording vinyls is a waste of time and money. When you get the recording just right you can't copy the disc to CD-R and then use the CD-RW again (Unless you go to your computer and rip the CD-RW disc to MP3 format and then copy the MP3 files back to a CD-R disc - so you then have lost your superior vinyl recording in the process). The big question: Would I buy this product again or refer it to a friend ? Without a doubt I would...Update (4/13/14): I have to add one more item to Dislikes, but it does not change my overall opinion of the product.5) I don't know what it is about this remote control but several times I have nearly dropped it. Twice I actually did drop it. The first time I dropped it there were 5 pieces laying on the floor: 2 batteries, The plastic front piece, the plastic back piece, and the circuit board. I reassembled it and it works fine now, but I still have nearly dropped it several more times. This remote seems to hate my hands... It should have rubber grips along the sides, I have resorted to wrapping several large rubber bands around it so that another drop won't kill it. Be aware...Update (7/3/14): NOTE TO VINYL LP FANS...I am still loving this recorder it is an amazing product, however if you are recording your vinyl LPs while listening to the LP (you pretty much have to) be aware of how you connect the recorder.1) I first hooked it up with the turntable pre-amp inputs into the "Analog In" of the recorder and then connecting the recorder's "Analog Out" to my Amplifier (standard in-series). The output from the recorder's "Analog Out" sounds fantastic, no doubt, but the turntable signal has gone through the recorders ADC/DAC converters (so it is no longer a true analog signal being sent to my amplifier - I could hear the subtle difference, and it took a while to figure out what was going on).2) So I added two "Y" splitters from the turntable pre-amp and connected one end of the splitters to the recorder "Analog In", and the other end of the splitters to my Amplifier (basically putting the recorder in parallel rather than in series). I now get the signal from my turntable directly to my amp, and rely on the recorders display and a set of headphones for recording while I listen to the LP (No connection is made to the recorder's "Analog Out" jacks - if I want to connect the recorder's output to my amp it is an easy change at the "Y" splitters).I keep a Sennheiser Open-Can Headphone plugged into the recorder and noticed that if I set the volumes just right I hear a mix of the sound from my speakers AND the sound from the recorder. To me it sounds somewhat like playing the music in an empty concert hall. A very full and warm sound it is too. No matter how you connect the recorder you will get wonderful sound, but consider your options if you are bothered by minutia.

I am happy with the Tascam CD Recorder. It does almost everything my Pioneer CD Recorder did except it doesn't have the ability to sync 1 track at a time. On the pioneer you could sync 1 or sync all, which means it could start recording and stop within one track, or continue to do every track with track marking and go into pause mode after 5 seconds of silence. This was great if copying a whole cd. It was useful in 1 track mode for not getting part of the next track recorded. Now why i like the Tascam! LOL. It's a nice build, solid, and has great playback features like pitch and key control. It does mark tracks but know that if it has an analog hook up as well as digital, the analog takes priority. So for example, I was recording myself a mixed cd, I wanted Alice Cooper's Devil's Food and Black Widow recorded. Instead of it marking 2 tracks, it didn't recognize a gap so it tracked it as one track. However when the next track began it marked the track. If I unhooked the analog rca's and set sync to DD, apparently it would mark every track. i have to try this still. The unit is very easy to use, and being that I owned a recorder before, no reading of the manual was required as the units work almost identical. the sound quality is great, and actually it's very easy to use. I didn't like to have to replace my pioneer because it cost me close to 700.00, but this Tascam was a fraction of the price and works just as well. I only gave it 4 because of the digital sync option missing. Be happy too, that this recorder has a keyboard input so you can add cd text to each track and the cd title itself! One thing missing in all reviews, that I wanted to know. If you want this in your home set up, then the side mounting brackets are easily removed with 2 screws on each side. It measures approx. 17" wide without the brackets. Good Job Tascam!

What a difference 1/2 price makes!! I bought the HHB Dual Disc Burner for over a Grand ($) and although it looks tight, the cd trays immediately turned me off, very very flimsy. Not a good first impression on a 'Professional' CD Recorder that lists for over $1000.So I took a chance and popped for this Tascam and quite the opposite reaction, out of the box I was impressed with the look and feel of this unit. The buttons have a 'positive' feel to them unlike the HHB whose buttons felt loose and sloppy. And the Digital 'Syncro' start worked perfectly unlike the HHB DualBurn which for the life of me, could NOT get it to start recording when I started the Digital 'Source' master. So there you go, great features, not lacking any at all, heck even more than the hhb (Pitch control for one) and at less then half the price I paid....I love Amazon.com and the retailer I got this from......MasterG
