Delivered fast, easy to set up and operate. I have melted a couple kilograms of copper and while it took longer than expected to melt it is convenient to just plug in and flip the power switch.

I was only able to use this twice before it stopped working. The heating element must have gone bad. Metal smelting is a hobby, so I don't do this every day so by the time I got around to using the item for the first time, the return window was already closed. The cost of this item was $279 which is steep for something that I was able to use 2 times before it broke. The website has lots of instructions on checking this, and that and replacing this part and that, but this is a hobby for me. I was able to replace all of these parts, I would have just built a furnace myself. I cannot recommend this product and hope no one else wastes their hard earned $$$ on this piece of junk,.

This furnace work as expected. Good customer support if any issue and replacement if needed. Just be aware that the crucible may need replacement one day or another as this is an item that wear and might fail if not replaced in time. Would buy again if needed.

Over 2 years of ownership I have done a couple dozen smelts of small gold flakes and nuggets into either bars or coins. The electrical cord finally broke (or better said "fused" with my outdoor extension cord) on my last smelt thus rendering the system useless presently. Also it appears the internal casing has cracked in half.The Good: Easy to set-up, power up, set temp. A beginner can start melting metals within half an hour.The Bad: A beginner can start melting metals within half an hour. Doing pours for beginners is hairy. Graphite cylinders cool quickly giving you about 3 seconds to pour into small molds (that should be heated themselves btw.) After several uses system itself shows severe signs of internal wear, especially on heating element, interior casing and exterior of system...handle, bulb, and cap.Ideas: Consider making custom molds that can be inserted into furnace chamber directly to avoid pours. Consider including smelt "recipes" for flux...ie "50% volume of material in Chapman flux per full unit of material volume." The instruction booklet could do with a full revamp.Overall good deal in terms of price and utility, but beginners should think about ventilation, safety, and quality of furnace at all times. Full face protection and full length welding shirts have served me well. Two years of use might be the safe operational limit for this furnace. Noticeable decline in utility after each smelt until failure was reached on last smelt.If quality of furnace was improved and availability of replacement parts on Amazon was implemented this system as the potential to own the beginner niche and earn a 5-Star rating.

My husband recently started a new workshop hobby, focusing on extracting gold from PCB boards, and asked me to buy a digital electric gold melting furnace with temperature control. It’s a great start for him as a beginner, and everything seems to be working well so far—the furnace heats up quickly, and he’s excited to try his hand at gold mining! (not quite there yet) but it seems very interesting!

UPDATE:I purchased this furnace, and it stopped working after just 60 days: 30 days after the Amazon return window. Other than that, it was an excellent melting furnace.I was angry and wrote the original review, below. This was the wrong of me as I never gave TOAUTO a chance to rectify the situation. So, after I calmed down, I contacted them to complain. TOAUTO immediately sent out a new unit. I haven't set-up the new furnace but intend to this weekend.The point is, TOAUTO stood behind their product and replaced it even after the Amazon replacement period had expired. The furnace is an excellent piece of equipment for its intended use and TOAUTO is an excellent company to work with. (And I was too quick and judgmental: shame on me for that.) This is a great company that sells a great piece of equipment at a great price. BUY WITH CONFIDENCE!ORIGINAL REVIEW:Worked fine until it decided to stop after only 2 months. Within the first second of looking at this product I knew I was in for a good experiment, I like to surf the industry products and buy things that have a decent price + decent description in order to try new products and experiment with industry standards; This product definitely covered those basis. I expected to get some decent use out of the product, but it seems to have blown an internal part, I use an extension cord rated far above what this demands, connected to a dedicated outlet drawing from it's own circuit. As soon as the device heated to 850c a bright spark followed by some audible electrical discharge turned the machine off, and of course it hasn't turned on since then.I expected this to not meet any expected standards but this low bar is almost impressive.The accessories that came with it follow the same quality trend as the kiln, the tongs/claspers if you will, left an oily residue all over my palm that smelled like liquid rubber and gave me a headache within 1 minute of holding them, I had to use my respirator the whole time using anything from this product, on top of the residue the rubber grips on the tang of the tongs completely slipped off with no effort, it was like peeling the skin off a zombies decaying face, just slipped right off.I was curious about the graphite quality and I'm not surprised to say it's clearly poor quality, the outside is polished to deceive you, the crucible will only last a handful of good uses before it needs replacing, on top of the fact it causes immense amount of slag production.The gloves' quality was comparatively identical to the tongs quality. I made a fist and punched a plywood board of basil wood to wear them in, as I do with all my *real* leather products, with these the faux fabric on the knuckles tore immediately.If you're serious about getting into the hobby then invest the proper funds, I've been doing this for 8 years roughly on and off, i can say with certainty it's not worth buying cheap products that might suffice, ultimately you'll be spending more doing that rather than investing in the proper industry standard equipment.Everyone's got their own experiences with this product, this is mine; Do with it what you will.

I bought one of these about 2 weeks ago and used it a couple of times. After two uses, the unit I had broken (the lid cracked and fell apart). I was a bit disappointed as I was worried about the quality of the item, however I figured sometimes a faulty unit can slip through quality control, so I reached out to the company and explained the situation.They immediately sent me out a replacement unit at no cost. I have used the replacement unit several times now, and it works great!Takes about 20 minutes to heat up (hot enough to melt copper), and once it is at temperature, it holds it just fine. I have melted copper, aluminum, brass, and nordic gold - all with great results.For the price, this is definitely worth it for beginners like myself.

This smelter is sold under a plethora of brand names. I chose this one simply because it was the cheapest on offer at the time.Since it's receipt, I have done dozens of melts to reduce all my shop aluminum scrap into nice little ingots for future use.The nice feature about these small smelters is that you can set the temperature and walk away. They can also be used indoors. I use mine in my garage.They have a nice crucible with a purpose designed groove in the top to fit the supplied tongs. It's very secure and easy to use. For aluminum, it takes about 30 minutes to come up to temperature and another 15-20 to melt a charge - so it's not fast, but you can walk away and be busy doing other things while it's heating up. When it reaches temperature, it will cycle at that temp.The supplied leather gloves are very cumbersome, ill fitting, and with the lack of feel/dexterity, probably create as much of a safety hazard as they are designed to protect against. I don't use them, preferring a set of good fitting leather shop gloves I have.All in all, I would recommend this smelter to someone just getting into the hobby that needs to work indoors and does not want to cast large parts. The crucible is approx 2" diameter x 5" deep. (useable), so you can do the math and see if this volume would be sufficient for your project.

Lets Start with the PoorAs commonly mentioned the stickers are not meant to be left on, and the company name plate comes off easily as it is clearly meant to be rebadged by many sellers.The paint on the lid is appearing to show heat stress and flaking after the first two uses.The gloves are far thicker and heat resistant than anything I owned before, but not designed to protect you from much more than a brush with the hot crucible or the ingot cast block.It feels a little slow for copper as the max temp for copper is right about the top temp of this furnace but aluminum feels far faster.The GoodIt did have everything I needed to get started. The gloves did protect me from accidental contact with the crucible when poking at the slowly melting copper pieces. I mean the gambling on cheap Chinese products I guess its worth pointing out that it works at all. The temperature is slow to respond, but I thought the temp control was consistent. I do have some questions about heat distribution as my first pour left some copper parts in the crucible that I had to put back in and finish melting. That could simply be impatience or the material closer to the top didn't get the same heating level.Despite some paint discoloration after the first firing I see no indication that this won't be able to carry on for quite some time.I appreciated the attempt to make a pour spout in the crucible, but I still managed to spill when pouring so be careful.Now that I know this is possible I look forward to trying to cast some objects and possibly try to fill 3D prints.
