I have many indoor surge suppressor strips some from Tripp Lite and some from other companies. Most have failed after a few years. They failed in the sense that they still deliver current but the surge suppression is no longer functioning (light is out). Not a single one of the Tripp Lite has failed me even after more than 10 years of use. I'm not saying they never fail. Mine have not. They are built to a better standard than your "no name" brands with low quality control and components and no warranty. They are not very expensive as well. I bought this one on special and for the price you can't find anything better. Another feature that I like is that it has a low profile angled plug. This might seem like a detail but it's not. Since the plug is tilted to the left, any type of other plug can fit on top on a standard outlet. Some have the wire hanging straight up vertical which makes it just about impossible to have 2 things plugged in the same outlet when the power bar is used. Not this one. Also, the 2 side sockets are a nice addition and might become practical at some point. The main wire is thick and the bar is substantial like it should be. Long story short, you will not find better quality at this price.

This is an excellent surge protector. It's the 2nd one I have purchased. The right angle plug and side outlets are a big plus as well as the warranty!

I purchased this to go between new TV and wall outlet. It's heavy duty, nicely designed with side outlets, not big and bulky, and has a lifetime warranty. Perfect for this. Not for USB charging.

I just retired from I.T. I have been buying these surge protectors for the company for a decade. They hold up well and have enough outlets to run a full work station. The only way I would buy something else is if I needed USB charging.

I've been using this Tripp Lite surge protector for about three years now. Plugged into it are a gaming computer, speakers, a lamp, and two monitors. I've also used other surge protectors from this brand for ten years now, all without any issues so far (and I'm still using those as well). I don't live somewhere where it storms a lot but having something reliable that would not spontaneously catch fire was my concern, and I feel safe using this. I would buy this again.

After searching for a lot of surge protectors both in Amazon and in physical stores, I believe this is THE best one for the price, clamping and amount of joules it tolerates, by far.Plenty of other reviews explain it better, but basically you *need* the clamping voltage to be as low as possible if you want to actually protect your stuff from power spikes (briefly put it's how much voltage it takes for the strip to detect the surge as such). This one is L-N 330 V - L-G 400 V - N-G 400 V, as low as it can get without the price getting ridiculous. Not only that, but there's plenty of surge "protectors" out there with bigger clamping numbers that cost more. Then there's the joules, which is how much the surge protector will tolerate before turning into a power strip. This number isn't important for the protection of your connected devices, but for its durability before replacement (which you should do if, again, you want to actually protect your stuff).

For such a low price on this power strip, the body of the power strip feels substantial with thick plastic. It's too thick to have any give when you squeeze it. The seam doesn't creak like cheap plastic molded junk does. The plugs go in smoothly and completely and are gripped well with no danger of falling out.The best thing for me is that the cord is heavy and made of some kind of rubber on the outside instead of plastic. It means that it doesn't hold a stiff shape and can easily be routed around things to stay where you put it. It has a low-profile, right-angle plug where the cord comes out diagonally just to the right side of the ground pin if the pin is facing down.

Tripp Lite makes quality products, especially their ISOBAR line, but I just needed something cheaper with coax surge protection... it has a high Joule capacity and automatic shutoff when the surge protection has been used up so you'll know when to replace it, and supposedly 75,000 of insurance for devices plugged into this (some people have had poor experience with claims service)... but let's be honest....THIS THING IS JUST UGLY. :(The price is right, the protection is great, but man does it look cheap. I've purchased a 3-prong extension cord to make the run from the wall outlet so I can hide this monstrosity behind the TV.

With 2160 joules AND these impressive specs:Clamping Voltage (RMS) 150UL1449 Let Through Rating 330V L-G; 400V L-N; 400V N-GThis unit is great. In other words your devices won't see over 150 (RMS is averaged out AC voltage, AKA the 125V that is normal). The 330V relates to the peak amplitude, which is good too(and the lowest for any protection). Many manufactures do not publish this spec, so you don't know what your valuable beloved devices will be subject too. Usually these specs are given for the whole house units, and they are often higher.I use this for my router, switch and cable modem. I know people that had surges go thru the cable line(yes the cable line) enter the modem and destroy the modem, router, and computers hooked up via ethernet. So you can see this getting very expensive. The cable input has no speed loss for my cable modem. I used the cable modem signal strength and averaged it 10X before and after install. There were maybe .1 units of loss on average with this unit. Likely the same effect(or not even) as a neighbor getting cable. The numbers jump around .7 units...I also combine this with whole house power protection(I like the EATON units). I had surges where other brands blew up but all the equipment was saved. Don't wait until it is too late. If you don't have whole house power protection(strongly suggested) move up to a higher tier of outlet surge protection. Even without the whole house unit this will probably take care of 95% of issues. Finally, these things do lose ratings after a surge, if a surge happens it is best to replace all these units. A cheap price to pay to protect thousands.
