I have a large kitchen and I need to see the numbers and the hands from about 10 feet away, but I’m not a spring chicken anymore. That means the clock face must have larger numbers and very good contrast on the face so I can clearly see both the numbers and the hands. I almost missed this clock because it was categorized as a learning tool for kids.However, the clock face was just right for what I wanted in my kitchen. It is very colorful, bright and cheery. Perfect for my kitchen. Not that it matters to me, but it is very quiet. That is because this is a quartz continuous sweep second hand and that means no tick, tick, tick. You normally pay a little extra for this feature in a quartz clock mechanism because the electronics must mimic an analog sweep hand by averaging the ticks into a continuous movement and still remain accurate.For that cost alone, this clock is a bargain. Is it high quality materials and factory-imbued with industrial strength materials? No. It is cheap plastic with a good mechanism and an easy to read face. Plus, it is bright and cheery. I would never have thought that a kid’s learning clock would have been the answer to my kitchen clock quest, but there it is, and very affordable too.Whatever your purpose for buying a wall clock, I would urge you to consider this option and don’t pass it by just because it is a “kids” clock. I’m glad I didn’t.
