I ordered this item to make guards for homemade knives. It works for the intended purpose, but after cutting and sanding to shape, the edge only has a hint of the yellow color and is mostly silver. I also tried to bend it over to make a collar for a Japanese tanto knife and the brass cracked and blew apart into two pieces. Brass is malleable. It shouldn’t rip apart when bent. Granted it is 1/8” thick and I was bending it around 180° to form the collar, but it still shouldn’t rip. I’d say it is good for the intended purpose of being a brass colored piece of sheet metal. For the price, I guess it is what it is and is still usable, but if you want true brass don’t order it from Amazon.
