The black finish on them is not the metal material itself but a paint. They appear to have a spray painted finish to them.

These work well. I primarily use pop rivets for reattaching service tags after I strip and repaint parts. The wide flange helps hide any mistakes I made when drilling out to remove the old rivets giving me a nice finish on my freshly restored parts.

I went from not even really knowing anything about rivets about five years ago to becoming a rivet addict. I'm always looking for an excuse to pull out the rivet gun or even better for the bigger jobs my impact gun rivet attachment.This set has a great assortment of sizes and the black color is fantastic. It's great when you are working with darker material and you don't necessarily want the silver rivets standing out like a sore thumb.I've installed a handful and they snapped cleanly, no jams.

Review for Nanaklaus 100 PCS Black Pop Rivets Assortment kit, large flange.These rivets work as expected, no problems, and nothing particularly that stands out in regards to their function. So why buy these instead of the many other options for similar rivets? This is an assortment of sizes that covers likely needs well. Most 'brands' on amazon will happily sell you 100-200 of a single size that will work just as well as these. At work, we go through rivets pretty quickly sometimes, and a series of projects may go through 100-200 of a particular size. But for the more typical one off project, a few rivets of a particular size is often all you need, and it seems the 4 big boxes of one-size rivets you already have are never the right size for that one-off project. For some reason, it's difficult to find useful assortments on Amazon, so thanks to Nanaklaus for targeting this. In particular, note that these are large-head rivets. Other than cosmetic preferences, the primary use case is when you're riveting soft materials like plastic sheet or thin aluminum that might suffer from normal rivet heads pulling through the material. Since the rear side of the rivet is standard size, you'll need to use backing washers on the rear if you need the pull-thru resistance.

While these rivets do appear very nicely finished, they do not always break off correctly, sometimes leaving part of the shaft stocking out of the head. Other than that, they function as they should.

These pop rivets are of exceptional quality. The flanges are indeed large. These will come in handy time and again for assembling and affixing panels of various materials.I would use an aluminum or stainless steel washer about the same size as the flange on the back if possible, especially if you're riveting into a soft material. The washer ensures that the rivet is supported by a larger surface area and doesn't get pulled through the material. If you're riveting into aluminum or steel, this is less important.
