About this item

  • 6 IN 1 DESIGN:52mm 6 in 1 adjustable infrared filter, you don't have to carry a bunch of filters for shooting. Just one filter, free to use in 530nm to 750nm light.
  • INFRARED FILTER: Sometimes called IR filters or heat-absorbing filters, designed to allow IR mid-infrared wavelengths while block visible light. Often used in devices with bright incandescent light bulbs (such as slide and overhead projectors) to prevent unwanted heating.
  • CONVENIENT TO USE: This adjustable IR filter is a compact all-in-one variable wavelengths filter that adjusts the amount of wavelengths with just the twist of your wrist.
  • The index marks on the filter let you know exactly the amount of wavelengths at a glance.
  • Digital cameras are usually equipped with IR-blocking filters to prevent unnatural-looking images. IR-transmitting (passing) filters, or removal of factory IR-blocking filters, are commonly used in infrared photography to pass infrared light and block visible and ultraviolet light. Such filters appear black to the eye, but are transparent when viewed with an IR sensitive device

Very easy to use . . . best for getting started in IR where you are needeinf to capture IR + visible range. If you like IR photography then this is a good way to try low-end IR spectrium.

once i removed the infrared blocking filter over the image sensor inside the camera, this lens filter worked perfectly with this little point and shoot from 2009! highly recommend!

I heard about this $25 filter and had to try it. At 77mm an IR filter costs often $150 or more. I tried it on my full spectrum converted digital camera. At 530nm there was a little ,ore color than a dedicated 560nm filter as you would expect. The rim rotates from 530 on up to 700+ With markings about 25 nm apart. At higher wave lengths it is perhaps a little less sharp but useable and acceptable. So, if you want to play in the IR world, it is a good and inexpensive way to start.

I purchased this for Laser Focusing to block the red and IR. This works FANTASTIC as I was able to focus the laser to fine point because the light bleed in the red spectrum was removed. I don't use this for my camera but it works great for my blue diode laser.

For example, I was able to make a photo of evergreen trees outside my yard look like they had snow on them when they really didn't. Using the Photos program on my Mac I was able to do that from a photo taken on my digital camera that had an infrared filter on its lens.

Filter seems to be very well made ... fun to use ... I'd never heard of these filters but they give me a chance to do a whole new level of images!!

Dont know why I bought it, it cant be used on digital camera without permanantly altering camera or enhancing images from photo shop. Unless you have a analog film camera you'll never use it. Just a shiny object for shutter bugs to drool over like me.
