The description is very misleading. Only the bezel (ring) is metal. The rest of the light is thin plastic.I used this light on my boat's power panel to replace a similar factory-installed 110V indicator. Got it all wired in, tested it, and when I tried seating it in the panel , it cracked. The case is too thin and I would not have bought this if I knew that.

These indicators are fairly compact - fitting a 5/16" hole. The flange and the mounting nut are just a bit larger (around 3/8") although the lock nut (if used) is about 1/2" diameter. They will fit comfortably in a space having about 1.5" depth behind the panel face. The "bezel" detaches from the lamp body, so it can be installed without "fighting" with the loose wire pigtails, etc. attached to the main lamp body. The yellow indicators that I got are adequately bright, and a visually reasonable shade.Although they have a red and a black wire, these are not polarized (that is, they work equally well with either wire attached to the "hot" or the "neutral") - so I'm not sure what the wire color codes indicate, and it seems a bit odd that there is a red wire rather than a white wire (to match conventional AC wire color codes). In any case, the pigtails are long enough to be usable in typical installations.I've installed some in sheltered outdoor locations, but they have not been installed long enough to assess their durability under these conditions.

Mounted these Red and Amber in my Rough Country fender flares on my F-150. Worked great.Update - it’s only been two months with these installed and two have already gone out. Unfortunately, I need to stick with same ones as a replacement so they look the same. Just unfortunate that I must pay to have the flares removed to replace a cheap part.

Perfect. Always know if outside lights are on or off without heading to barn or out buildings.
