Great product; however, the sizes are not consistent with the sizes stated on the bit for the plug size. The plugs are okay, but you will need a jig to hold the bit in place.

Very nice set of plug cutters, I put them to work in some maple, and they cut very clean and did so quickly. Overall, a great option if you need to quickly cut wood plugs in your shop.

Did test cuts on the drill press with these and all three cut nice smooth plugs a few thousandths undersize, just enough room for glue. There is a noticeable amount of runout on the two larger bits but it didn't seem to affect the size of plug they cut as all the plugs I cut were consistent and mic'd out the same. Recommend a drill press for these as there is no pilot to guide these into the wood.

I've owned a similar, but larger set of these for more than 20 years and I love them. I use the 3/8" cutter all the time as it fits a deck screw head, and it's getting to be time to replace the smaller of these.This set of 3 cutters comes in a nice little pine box. I immediately tried the 3/8" cutter on some Cumaru (Jenka hardness 3500+) as I'm trying to finish a decking project and needed some more plugs. It cut great - very sharp as it should be coming from the factory. These cutter remove a lot of material and they can get pretty hot if you're cutting a lot of plugs in really hard wood. I normally reduce the drill speed to keep the bits from loosing their temper from too much heat buildup.I love that I can cut a plug of almost any length with these cutters. The plug that these make is not tapered or chamfered in any way - some cutters to that. I find that the plugs are easier to install if I sand a tiny chamfer on one end. These cutters are also pretty easy to sharpen, with just 4 flats, one for each of the cutter 'wings'. You will need to sharpen these if you're going to cut a lot of plugs in hard woods.I love the set and it came at a great price

These plug cutters work great. They cut with very little effort and the finish on the plugs is far better than with other plug cutters I have used. The tool has a lot of clearance for removing plugs and they are long enough to cut a 3.1" long plug. I cut test plugs with each of the cutters using some scraps of red oak. As I previously mentioned the cutters required very little pressure in my drill press and that also did not get hot like most other plug cutters do. None of the plugs showed any scorch marks. The 3/8" plug was dead on .375-.376". The 1/2" plug was also very accurate at .500-501". The 5/8" plug was a bit undersize at .617-.619". I am very pleased with these plug cutters.
