This was a good beginner microscope for our 8yr old. He enjoys the premade slides and we need to try to make some of our own.

So this kit looks amazing in how it’s packed and all the things it comes with. It looks like the best kit you could get for your kit for a microscope-but as far as how it functions im simply not sure. The slides are awesome and it comes with tons of cute little microscope accessories for your samples which is so cool and so you can make your own slides. I will say that at the age of 33 I haven’t used one of these in decades and so there is a possibility that I did something wrong but maybe not-all I know is that the eye piece came with two pieces stuck together and there were two lens in there so I figured those were two seperate eye pieces and pulled them apart and proceeded trying to place one where the eyepiece goes on the microscope according to directions. When I did this I realized that the glass or plastic little portion on the eyepiece completely moved out of its place and fell out. And I had to try and maneuver it back in place and it just didn’t work out in the end and it won’t because the eyepiece is not sturdy enough to hold the lens in OR I broke it. One or the other! Now according to everyone else’s reviews they had a great time with this so I’m thinking maybe I just got one with a defective eye piece but really how can I be sure? This thing is useless for me now so I gave it 3 stars because if it weren’t for the eyepiece part being so confusing and the lens popping off it I’d love it, and I understand that if I had paid for this item and this happened to me I would simply return it or ask for a replacement from seller if possible. So it’s really sort of worth a try in my opinion-especially if you know you have some time to return/exchange should you happen to get a defective one. 🤷♀️

This starter microscope comes in a well protected nice case that doubles as the storage for everything. This kit includes everything you need to get started. The sturdy plastic storage case it comes in, once the microscope and other accessories are put in place, is designed to be then placed upright in a closet or shelf. All will stay in place as it's designed to hold everything. The transparent lid lets you know exactly what it is.First of all, it is made mostly of metal, not all plastic. A good start. It is well designed in that it includes some prepared slides, as well as including ways to make your own microscopic little critters. Shrimp eggs you put in water in the little container designed for that, grow into little brine shrimp that you can see under the scope. It comes with blank slides and coverslips to make your own slides. It comes with die to stain your created slides also. The icing on the cake, is that it comes with a nice well written book (see some of the pages in my pics) that takes your young up and coming scientist from the very start. It explains what a microscope is, and how to use one. The booklet steps you through exactly how to set up and look at the prepared slides, as well as how to make your own. It really does include everything you will need to set up a little area where your child can explore a whole new microscopic world. I'm 70 years old, and can't wait to show this to my three grandchildren next time they come over. I can remember more than 60 years ago being given my own beginner microscope, and how interesting it all was for me. I remember going down to the creek, scooping up some water and putting a drop or two on a slide and was amazed at all the tiny little creatures swimming around on that little slide at 60 or 100X magnification. This one is way more sophisticated and includes many more accessories than that one did back then.Over all it's a well designed relatively inexpensive beginner microscope that includes everything you will need to get started, and to keep going making your own slides of things that look a while lot different under a microscope than the naked eye. I give this one 5 full stars.
