ACCEL'S Performance Replacement GM Opti-Spark II Distributor is a direct plug-in factory replacement with an aluminum housing and a high-dielectric-strength, glass-reinforced cap. the unit arrived undamaged and packaged well. I installed it with new wires and plugs and then put on a new water pump and new hoses. Spent hours cleaning and making sure everything was installed correctly. Filled up the coolant system with new antifreeze and fired it up. Immediately got the MIL and a Crank Position Sensor code. I removed and inspected the CPS. Checked circuits with Oscilloscope. Followed troubleshooting with my scanner. Low res was supposed to be at -10 - +7. This Opti was shooting 32 degress. Called Accel Tech support and they told me to return it for a new one. No consideration for my time or my gaskets or my coolant or at all. Holley (And Accel) is dead to me as a company. NEVER AGAIN ACCEL!

Struggled to find a good one and it’s been working for a few years so far.

Warehouse deal... not worth the risk. Housing was cracked and broken off where the wiring harness plugs in and it looked like it had been used for quite a while??... returning it because the labor to install these things is outrageous, not taking any chances.

This product is not sealed! meaning if it is not in a climate controlled enviroment- it will degrade rather quickly- I live in NY a few miles from the ocean...If it lasts a year i am lucky- insides turn green and white....On the contrary- OEM unit (that has 62,000 miles on it) was placed back in while we waited for a replacement part- Car ran like a champ. Its not that this product doesn't work- it just does not survive if a vehicle is kept outside. 95 Corvette Base 6 speed- 70,000 miles

Seems to be a quality part. It installed just fine and ran well.

I was doing a major tune up on my car, a 1997 Pontiac Trans Am. Since I had a leak at the timing cover I decided to go ahead and replace the Opti too. Ordered this Accel and had all the work done on the car. This was April 10, 2015, now it Nov. 21, 2015 and my car is dead. It just died on me in the middle of a busy street while sitting at a light. Come to find out it's this Opti Spark. This thing didn't last 1 yr. The OE one, which I never had any problems with lasted, 17yrs, I just changed it since I had to take it out to replace the timing gasket. Can't return it, so out of that money, and have to buy another one, to get car going again. I'm really shocked at this crap from ACCEL as they were supposed to be a great brand. If you need a new Opti, I suggest that you spend more money and get an OE one. The problem with an Opti is there's no warning signs to let you know it's going out, it just goes, and you are struck. It's a pain to replace and quite expensive, I'd really like to meet the GM genius who thought this set up was a good idea. Take it from me, leave this one where it is. Sorry to say but it's no good.

This is the first opti I have had to replace and it was done in a 97 Pontiac Formula. It has been about a month and it seems to be holding up just fine. Car seems to be running better than when it did just before the old opti started to go. The only thing that was a little weird was it took a lot of effort to get it to go go in all the way. I know I matched up the cam dolly numerous times but it would not go in completely. Finally took a little dab of oil and put it on the gaskets and after a little work pushing it in and out it finally went in all the way.
