The GPS antenna in my 3 year old Android head unit failed recently. So I replaced it with this one and it works perfectly. Actually, the lock is better and so is the signal strength. So, not only was it compatible with my no name head unit, it actually improved performance over the old one. Now, maybe the old one was just failing from the factory, slowly, and was never as good as it should've been, but this one definitely improved the performance overall. So, no complaints at all with this GPS antenna. If this new antenna continues to perform well, I see no reason for it to not be worth the 14 dollar list price. It's a good one.

I'm running a time server on a Raspberry Pi 5 with a GPS attached. I wasn't getting very good reception from the built in antenna. Adding the geekstory GPS antenna really helped. Before my satellites had a signal/noise ratio of around 20, never more than 25, now they are all well over that and some are as high as 40. Major improvement in reception. Probably for two reasons, one is with this antenna's long cord I can put it right in my window, where as before the GPS was about 3 feet inside. The other reason is probably the extra gain from this active antenna.Keep in mind this antenna has an SMA Male connector. This is fine for most uses but if you want to use the antenna with many small GPS breakout boards and Raspberry Pi hats you will need a U.FL to SMA adapter cable. You can easily tell the difference, an SMA connector is about as big around as a pencil, while the U.FL connector is tiny, just slightly bigger around than a pencil lead.In any case, this antenna works and it gives me better reception than before, so I'm happy. I'd recommend it if you need an external GPS antenna.
