Fans of the Jazz bass know that jazz bass pickups built by Fender in the 1970’s sound very different from the pickups used in the 60’s. The 70’s versions have a brighter, more strident tone that is perfect for slapping, funk and R&B. They are also perfect for many rock styles. An example of this sound range from the rock styling’s of Geddy Lee to Marcus Miller’s Jazz/Funk inflections. Because pickup windings and materials varied so much throughout the 70’s, we used several pickups from different years as our sonic models. Through a process of listening and prototyping we discovered the very small gradations of wire size and winding patterns that reproduce the bright and deep sound of the 70’s jazz bass pickup. The AG 4J-70 pickups complement any bass and are a great match with Aguilar’s OBP on-board preamps. Available as a calibrated neck and bridge pickup set for four string basses, the AG 4J-70 pickups are direct replacements for Jazz Bass style basses.

I'm switching out a pair of Fender Custom 60's with these. The 60's were a little too vintage for me. These Aguilera cook! Nice low end, not over pronounced kids, and crisp highs. I tweak the low mids a little on my amp but otherwise everything else is flat and these sound amazing.

My pickups went bad in my guitar. These sound great. I had to router out my bridge pickup hole because these are the correct two sizes. My originals were both the same size. (On these, the bridge pickup is wider than the neck pickup, and that is how it should be). Very pleased.

These pickups are great. No hum at all when you solo either pickup. Solid, clear, punchy overall tone. I loved the Aguilar pickups in my P bass that I had to install them on my jazz. If you are in the fence on buying these, don’t hesitate.

Looking for truly noiseless J pickups that aren't trying to be the Beats headphones equivalent of bass pups? Check these babies out for sure!

It gave brilliant sound to my upgraded vintage bass. Warm low freqs and puchy attack - the most you can expect form a pickup.

My 90's Fender J Bass was driving me crazy with the hum, these pickups resolved my problem. I tried number of things and nothing worked. Keep in mind 90's J basses both pickups are the same size (2 neck size pickups ) so you need to route bridge pickup, no rovket science. They sound great I can compared them with my Custom shop pickups, shielding is integraded so that's a plus.

Returned the product. Bridge pickup was busted...neck pickup sounded awesome. Requested for a refund and Amazon never gave me any problems. After sales service was awesome. Product was defective.

These pickups are amazing! They have given my Jazz Bass a new lease on life. They are a very versatile pickup. Turn the neck pick-up off, leave the bridge pickup on and get a bit of a high/mid Jaco tone. Turn the bridge pickup off leave the neck one one and get something closer to a P Bass sound. I use this bass for everything from rock, country, jazz, funk, and pretty much anything else and I can get a tone that fits the style. The fact that you can adjust the pickup volumes, have them at different settings and not get the out of phase hum is also a nice tonal option. They are pretty easy to install,. When I buy the Jazz V in the near future I will be putting a set of the 5J-HC's on it.

Great tone! I spent hours reviewing pickups and finally settled on these. I'm glad i did, well worth the money.
