This Anderson Metals reducing union compression tube fitting is made of brass, has flared tube connections, and is suitable for use with fuel and gas systems. It is made of brass for corrosion resistance, ductility at high temperatures, and low magnetic permeability. This reducing union fitting connects two tubes with different diameters. It has flared tube connections on both ends to connect to unthreaded flared tubing. This fitting can be used with copper, brass, aluminum, or steel tubing and is part of an assembly that resists mechanical pullout for a more secure connection, and can be assembled and reassembled without affecting the seal. This reducing union compression tube fitting has an operating temperature range of -65 to +250 degrees F and is suitable for use with fuel and gas systems, plumbing, refrigeration, and vacuum applications.

Tube fittings are components used for connecting, branching, terminating, and changing the direction of tubing in pneumatic and hydraulic systems. They are made of brass, stainless steel, PBT (polybutylene terephthalate), and other materials that resist corrosion and wear. Tube fittings have various types of connections, including threaded, welded, barbed, and push-to-connect (also called one-touch). Push-to-connect connections do not require tools or sealants. Tube fittings are used in various applications, including machine tools, airplane and truck controls, and automated production lines, among others.

Anderson Metals manufactures brass fittings, valves, and pipe nipples. The company, founded in 1951, is headquartered in Kansas City, MO.

1/8 mpt by 3/8 flare fit perfect on my fish fryer the hose went out and a new one that I bought didn't have where it would hook straight to it so I had to buy the adapter to go on it and it works great

I bought a 5/8 by 3/8 flare reducing union. What I received was something marked 5/8 by 3/8. So far so good, right? I have a 5/8 OD flare female and another 5/8 OD flare male fitting. They fit together perfectly.Edit: I decided to measure the reducing union but had to resort to a tape measure (I don't own calipers). The Anderson metals measured 7/8in thread to thread on the larger end, and that technically is correct according to SAE 45° sizing. I went and measured my other 5/8 OD equipment and found them to be 15/16in thread to thread. I've never been more confused in my life. I've finally discovered that 5/8in flare isn't just 7/8in. There's another 5/8in flare size that refers to 15/16. This 15/16 is some kind of newer revision used in gas appliance line hookups. It's still confusing and extremely poorly documented, to a dangerous degree. I don't think it's fair to give this product a bad review because of the disorganized nature of the flare fitting industry. Perhaps it will work for you, but be aware that this 5/8 flare measures 7/8.

Really poor quality brass. Crudely machined , low quality, Fred Flintstone could have done a better job. Had to braze it in place to obtain tight seal.

Good quality product and works as intended. Box stores rarely carry a selection of brass, so this was nice to have a quick delivery when needes.

I bought an Avenger wall heater which was Not as warm as I thought it would be but is a very sturdy heater. I found out that old heater was hooked up to copper tubing. So I needed Anderson Metals Brass Tube Fitting, Reducing Union, 3/8" x 1/2" Flare that is available at Amazon. I used Mr. Heater One-Stop Universal Gas-Appliance Hook-Up Kit to go from heater to brass tube reducing. I never put in gas lines before but with yellow tape put on clockwise on all male fixtures It was real easy. I put soap bubbles in all attachments and no leaks. I had to wait about 2 minutes pushing on startup knob before LP gas go to furnace but this fitting was exactly what was needed. This was the only place to get one of these fittings lowes home depot did not have them.
