These are machined way too thick, and of poor quality material. They are not usable. I tried to re-hang an axe and the design of these types of barrel wedges requires that you hit them hard in order to sink them into the wood to secure the wooden wedge. When I tried that with these it deformed the conical edge so much that it would not go into the material as it had developed burred and jagged edges, essentially making them unusable for that type of project. They appear to be made of pot metal or possibly aluminum but they do not stand up to the strength of hickory and poplar. Also they are so thick that they will not go into a wood handle without cracking the outside edge of the handle that protrudes from the eye of the axe. I hung my axe with less than 3/16th of an inch of wood overhanging and after tapping in one of these wedges (not even an eighth of an inch, not very far) it pushed the wood so far outward that it cracked a section flush with the top of the axe head due to how thick they are. Unusable. I could not be more disappointed with my purchase.

Must have assortment for anyone with a hammer/sledge/axe/maul fetish. Fits good and tight. Don't come loose and doesn't split your handle. Yeah, it sucks that it's not American made, but what do you expect? This is Amazon!

I've always swore by the flat wedges. But after using this product I wouldn't use anything else. Spent this winter replacing my worn axe, maul and sledge Handel's I'm thrilled with the bite and grip this product gives.

I have a mattock that the handle had shrunk to the point that I did not think anything would work but these were perfect! One large in the middle and two small in the ends. The handle expanded 360 degrees and this is an solid as it was the day my dad bought it 30 years ago.
