It is a cheap metal. So far it can stand the heat. The door/hinges are really cheap. It is a great back yard fire pit otherwise.

I did not buy this for outside, I bought it for inside... heres why, heating costs will be crazy this year, and on my budget, it looked like it was going to be a cold winter, but I thought what if I used this with inside fire gel, well it works beautifully, I added some rocks, and 2 bricks to sit the cans on... and now I have an inexpensive in door fire place. LOVE IT...

It comes with instructions, but they are not clear… we spent two afternoons struggling to put it together. Some parts, mostly screws and nut were not in the box, so that was a quick trip to the hardware store. It does look nice, and is beautiful once assembled.
