Beautiful coffee bean container with a sturdy system of letting the beans "out-gas" while stored without letting in outside air. Seems to be better thought out compared to others who attempt to provide a vacuum, until that fails, when all that's necessary is to keep outside air from entering while letting the gases produced after roasting escape. That the lid allows for setting the date coffee was added is a nice extra touch.

It doesn't really keep an air lock... just a jar with a lid really.

This seals well and has a few nice features that set it apart. First, when pushing down the lid it (theoretically) should push some of the air inside the container out and help prevent oxidation that much more. Second, there is an option flap on the underside of the lid that you can unplug which actually lets the coffee "breathe"/Vent, similar to how coffee bags have one way valves on them. Lastly, there is the date/time tracker which feels like a gimmick to me as its never mattered but its something for those that care.Overall solid Choice for container

This is great! Seals well, keeps beans fresh.

Durable and keeps my coffee fresh. That said, while it may be air tight, please note that it is NOT a vacuum and does not remove all of the air inside.

This storage container appears to be well-made. The glass jar portion is a thick borosilicate glass, so it doesn't feel fragile to handle. The top seals well by pushing down on the top once the lid is in place. There is a button on the side to activate the release on the lid. The lid does secure well. On the top, the large button that activates the seal has a dial so a date can be dialed in as a reminder as to when the contents were placed in the jar. This jar does not have any sort of vacuum to remove the air in the jar. It does have a small plug inside that can be pulled down to allow air to circulate into the jar or pushed in to keep fresh air from circulating into the jar. There are no instructions that come with this container. When I ordered the container for my coffee beans, I thought the lid did expel the air, so I was a bit disappointed when I found it did not. That was my error and does not reflect on the quality of the product. The jar does have the image of coffee beans and "coffee bean breathing can" is printed under the coffee bean image. If you want a container that allows your coffee beans to breath, then this is a good choice. The pricing is good for this type of container.

It’s highly effective for storing coffee beans, but it lacks a crucial feature: dark glass to protect the beans from light.

I quite literally did not need this container. I have two coffee containers already, one this size and another larger one. I barely use those. But I liked the way this one looked, and it's glass as opposed to stainless steel, so I got it.The container is very nice looking, I like the little bean logo at the bottom, the glass is nice and lends it a quality feel. Top functions similarly to those OXO containers, except you don't push the top again to open it, you push a button on the side.I don't have anything in it yet since I just transferred the last of my beans to my grinder hopper, but I'll probably start using this more often than my stainless steel containers, if only because I can see how much is left in it. Hopefully I can find some other bulk, dry good I can store in those, because they look really nice, just don't need this many coffee bean containers (I am the only coffee drinker in my house...)
