It’s good, it works so far. Love the color. Some parts seem cheaply put together. You might be better off with a better brand, but this still works very well. The straps aren’t very good so I have used my old ones.

Decided to do a dad review, 3.5 years after buying the case.Disclaimer: The pictures are after I just removed most of the scuffs and black marks on the case. It won’t look this nice after 3.5 years without some effort. However, It didn’t look terrible either, it just look well used.As everyone knows, everything about the Cello is expensive and it’s a big risk purchasing an expensive case online. The intent of the review is to help make an informed decision on an expensive purchase. It’s from the dad’s perspective in a three parts. Given the cost of the case, it’s worth the time to read the review. I cover the following1. Overall thoughts, 2. Performance of case so far, 3. Maintenance Items, and some additional notes.1 Overall performance thoughts:- For school aged kids - The case should get you from middle school through graduation. It may be really rough shape by the senior year as kids are excepting hard on things. The wear and tear not only comes from your kids, but also their fellow students, riding the bus, and other music related activities. Elementary kids won’t need this case since they’re most likely using a smaller size cello and upgrade to a larger size in middle school.- For older cellists - The case would easily last 10+ years and protect the cello from catastrophic damage. It’ll need minor maintenance over time and yearly inspection to ensure it lasts. I chose 10 years as each cellist is different, playing regular gigs vs playing casually will determine wear and tear.- For Flying - If you buy a seat for your cello to sit next to you, this is a good case. If it’s going to be a checked bag, I’d buy a case specifically made for flying, or try to rent a cello at your travel destination.2. Performance of my daughters case thus far.The case was bought in September 2020 and it’s currently February 2024.- The case has endured a high school cellist, who is quite hard on the case.- Most components have held well, considering it’s transported to and from school almost every day, 2 years on the bus, along with being transported to Lessons and other school related competitions.- The case has scars of serious trauma, but it’s still structurally sound. Proving its durability as the amount of force needed to create the damage on the case would’ve been catastrophic to an unprotected cello or cello in a soft case. The closeup pictures show the abuse. Whatever created the damage to the case would have significantly damaged or destroyed the cello in a soft case.- I Think the case is actually a molded, hard plastic with a carbon, fiber, film layer based on some of the damage to the case however, I’m not an expert in carbon fiber. I would confidently say the hard plastic covered by a thin layer gives it exceptional durability.3. Maintenance ItemsAs with anything, there’s always maintenance required because things wear down and break overtime.- For carrying handle leather strap has held up well. However, the faux leather covering attached foam has started to deteriorate. Given the exposure to the oils from my daughters hands along with the different elements, this isn’t that big of a deal considering it’s been 3 1/2 years. To protect the foam, I just wrapped the handle and electrical tape. My daughter was pleased with the solution.- The handle for pulling on the wheels is in pretty good shape as there is no foam pad attached to that strap.- Plastic wheels in fairly decent shape, but do show some wear. I think a younger kid would be harder on the wheels requiring either trying to replace them or just carry the case. Most kids don’t realize the wheels are for flat surfaces not for jumping curbs and stairs. That explains the wear from my daughter on the bottom corners.- The shoulder straps are in pretty good condition, but are starting to fray and probably will need to be replaced in about two years. They would last a bit longer if my daughter took them off regularly and stored them. She leaves them on all the time.- The carabiner clips attaching the shoulder straps have a leather type sleeve that has worn out over time. It is important to make sure this is either replaced or repaired to prevent the clips from damaging the case. I just wrapped several layers of electrical tape around the clip to prevent the damage from the metal on hard plastic.- The foam in case takes the shape of the Cello overtime, and my daughters previous Cello was slightly larger than her new one, causing the new one to slide around in the case. The existing foam pads were not thick enough to correct this, so I just made my own pads that were slightly thicker. I think Crossrock would benefit selling additional pads in different thicknesses, but you could get by with your own creativity and some foam.- For being a white case, the color has held up quite well. I was able to scrub off a majority of the scuff marks besides the ones that were a bit deeper marks. I opted to do wet sanding to remove most of the deeper dark scuffs. I used sand paper progression from ranging from 340 to 3000 grit, depending on the severity of blemish. I followed the sanding with a car polishing compound. This wasn’t necessary, but significantly improved the appearance. Stickers also work just as well to cover up the scuffs.- My daughter lost half of the neck strap clip. I reached out to crosswalk to see if they have any replacement options, but I’m already looking other options. I’ll either use a no sew clip or possibly sew in Velcro. The no sew replacement clip is more ideal.- Some of the metal components has worn or chipped paint. I touch up the paint yearly on the rivets and latches. to prevent rust, Sometimes I use black nail polish, other times I used model paint. Main goal is to keep metal covered to avoid rusting. I’ll probably put a light lubricant on the latch spring to prevent rust. Will be something that coats the metal but does collect dirt and dust. Rust mitigation is key to the longevity of the case without needing significant repairs,- Given the current condition of the case, I think it will easily last her through college.Importance notes:1. Verify your cello will fit. There are several measurement to take. I found this out the hard way 3.5 years ago as the first case was too small for her cello.2. Crossrock has most likely made some design improvements to some of the components since I bought it, but some of the same maintenance items will apply.3. Inspect the case yearly, touch up chipped paint, check straps and latches. Also check the structural integrity.

Beautiful Cell Case easily tips to side and scratches up the edge alongside the wheel. The wheel spacing is too narrow causing easy tipping. The Ridge handle also contribute to the casing tippling if you are pulling the case behind you and hit carpeting, doorway threshold or just going around a corner.

Beautiful case. Strong and well made. Fits the cello but isn't bulky or hard for my 11 year old grandson to handle.

Better than expected. This comes with a handle on top which the pictures did not show. We upgraded from a 3/4 fiberglass to this 4/4 poly carbon case. This is much lighter than the fiberglass. Well padded inside. The outside has a woven carbon fiber texture which looks amazing. Very pleased with Crossrock brand and Amazon shipping. This rivals some more “better” brand cases out there.

Item description is incorrect (case actual weight is 12.5lbs. NOT 9.9lbs). Inside the case, there are Velcro backings along the inner sides of the case to place small cushions, but the Velcro fell off upon opening the case. My daughter also complains about the poor design of the case... when she carries the case on her back, there are 2 small "feet" right at the shoulder level which is uncomfortable. The only part that she likes about the case is the white color. If you are looking for a light case, I do not recommend this case. Also it's very compact so if your cello is larger size, this case may be too snug or may not even be big enough.
