It plays pretty well in tune. I have arthritis and I’m hoping this will help cover the holes. It has a nice dark sound. I have a very expensive Yamaha, but I hope this will work for me so far, so good.

I am very pleasantly surprised with this clarinet! Besides including everything as advertised, it’s a very solid feeling instrument. Not like a lot of student instruments. I used the set up sent with it and it worked better than my expensive mouthpiece and barrel! After warming up, it was very responsive and had no problems hitting even high notes. I would compare its performance to a Vito which is what I use as my backup. I can’t wait to get home and play it more!! I think it will be a keeper!

I'm a professional musican, teacher and arranger. I've have developing arthritis and had to use thumb brace etc. The holes on clarinet became extremely harder to cover properly. This plateau clarinet improved my technique like I use to have. I don't have to use my thumb brace. Thank you. The construction so far is good. I had my clarinet technician look over and he approve.

I bought this instrument out of pure curiosity and a long held desire for keys dating back to my marching band days. Generally I've been satisfied with it. The only issue I've noticed is that the lower register "B" and upper register "F" using just the middle finger on the right hand is very muted and flat. The alternate fingering sounds fine. I've considered returning/exchanging but feel this is probably a design flaw.I completely agree with the description that this design is good for people with smaller fingers or with injuries/disabilities. After spending 8 hours at a computer, using this instrument is much easier than the traditional model with open holes and will continue using it for daily evening practice. It does not sound as good as a high quality wood instrument but is good for what it is and sounds about as good as the other budget clarinets sold on Amazon.I personally prefer to use an open holed top joint which yields a better sound (and clearer B/F). For someone learning clarinet who may be struggling with squeaking over the break, this would be worth trying before throwing in the towel.
