Great tool. I've got about 150 cuts on it so far, with 90% of that being 1/8th x 3 inch mild steel flat bar, and the remainder being tubing of same dimensions. It cuts as clean today as it did on the first cut, which is very clean. Everything is cool to the touch after being cut, and requires just a quick hit on the grinder to knock the burrs and edges off. You need to konw that its noisy and its going to throw metal chips everywhere. I laugh that I bought the version with the catch-tray for the chips, because the vast majority of the mess lands all around the machine, not in the little trap under the machine. I'm mostly cutting flat bar, and with that it throws enough chips, and with enough force, that I wear my mig gloves and long sleeve welding shirt when cutting, otherwise it feels like bee stings the entire time I'm cutting as the chips hit me. You'll want a shop vac to clean up, maybe a big magnet too.

The best steel cut off tool I have used. It's fast , easy to control and much safer and the others I have used.

I don’t normally feel compelled to write a product review, but this is the best power tool I’ve ever bought, full stop. Chews through mild steel like warm butter. Makes super clean, accurate cuts, and the clamp mechanism is smartly designed. Wish I hadn’t waited so long to buy it.

This thing cuts insanely fast, like faster than wood on a mitre saw fast. Not only are the cuts perfectly clean, but the metal stays completely cold to the touch and burr free. I tried a head to head test vs an abrasive type cut off saw and while the abrasive saw took around 10 seconds to cut a piece of 1” tubing, the evolution saw took about 1/2 a second. Incredible saw.

I was able to cut up $800 worth of steel and aluminum into pieces to machine parts out of in about 1 hour. The blade that comes with it is for mild steel and did a great job on ground stock. It was much more accurate than a horizontal band saw which will reduce machine time on the mill. That alone will pay for the saw in a year or less. in mill bits alone. The 66 tooth blade has too many teeth for aluminum so if you plan to cut a lot of it you should get the blade designed for it. Evolution sells one. Less teeth translates to less heat and less gumming up the teeth. If you allow the teeth to build up melted aluminum you can break the carbide teeth off of a blade. The speed of the saw at 1400 RPM is just about perfect for metal. I'll never go back to abrasive saws. Only time will tell about reliability, but, first impressions are really good.

Overall this saw is good, but not great. I bought this because of the features it offered over other saws.Pros:The locking pin for 45 degree cuts is a big plus. It keeps you from moving the gauge while clamping down. The updated square thread clamp allows you to clamp much tighter than the older versions. The head wobble is pretty well minimized in this new design. The locking pin vs the old chain is better overall. The handle to carry which is separate from the trigger handle is a nice touch. The blade that it comes with is decent for most mild steel.Cons:Base plate not flat: I was hoping for a flat base plate as this is their "heavy duty" (most expensive) model. However the center insert is a good 1/16" higher than the rest of the table. The material rocks on the table making it difficult to cut a true 90 degrees. It is pretty good but each cut is off just a bit. For welding it is good enough but I had expected better. The base plate height: I wish manufacturers would make the base plate either 1-1/2 tall or 3-1/2. This is about 2-3/8. When cutting on the ground I could throw a 2x4 or 4x4 wood scrap on the ground to support the materials. As I use this on an jobsite I don't have a table with extensions custom built for it therefore we generally have this on the ground. Making it so a common material could be used would be nice.Overall a good saw but the table not being flat has me quite disappointed.Update:After cutting a lot of square tubing, pickets and flat bar I have used this machine for many hours. The blade that comes with it is pretty good. As long as you avoid cutting anything flat (cut square tube with clamp adapter so it doesn’t sit flat on table, make sure bar stock is cut vertical) to prolong the life of the blade it does very well.I wish the there was a brake on this so I didn’t have to wait the extra 10 seconds for the blade to stop. It would make my work more efficient and the saw a little safer. The top carrying handle is nice so if I move the saw plugged in there isn’t the chance to hit the switch and have it kick on. It also makes a nice cord wrap. Would be nice if they put a couple of wings on it to help with this. The chip tray is nice but loading it from back is awkward when it is near a wall. Only catches 50% of the chips but I don’t think it is any worse than other saws.Still wish it had an extension table like the skill does. The table is narrow so the extra support would be nice. Others don’t seem to complain about their table not being flat like my wear insert. I’ll have to spend some time to figure out how to fix it, something I didn’t expect to do with this price.I still love the locking pins for the 45 fence. I never worry about the clamp moving it when really cranking on it.The square thread clamp is a must on this type of saw. I had the cheaper version that wasn’t and found it dangerous cutting round tube at a 45.Overall a decent saw. With a few modifications this saw would blow away the competition

I was trying to decide between this new Evolution model, or the very well reviewed (and more expensive) Jancy Slugger. I'm happy with this.Pros:- Saw blade is true to the table. Perhaps only off square by 0.020" across my 6" machinists square.- There is no side-to-side play in the saw body. It seems to designed ridged.- The base is rock-solid. This model is a cast-aluminum base.- The clamp is well designed and strong.- The clamp backing-plate is adjustable with pin-locking action at 0 and 45 degrees and can be positioned at 3 different locations on the table for cutting various sized materials. Very well thought out.- Doesn't pull 15A. According to my Kill-A-Watt, this saw is pulling around 10A @ 118V with no load (not cutting) and about 11-12.5A when cutting.- Top notch quality in pretty much every aspect.Cons:- Doesn't catch many metal chips. (see pics). Granted, I can't imagine any of the saws out there catching chips effectively.- The included vice add-on (for holding round pipe and square-tube at an angle) is pretty much useless to me. Using it lifts the part off the table, which basically means it won't cut true if the part has any weight to it. I can hold round pipe just fine without it.I'll update this in the future if I have any issues with it, but after the first 25 cuts of 2" (2.375" DIA) Schedule 40 (0.153" wall), color me impressed.
