The first one of the FR112 pumps I bought was sent back and replaced with a new one because it would get extremely hard to turn after sitting for a few days. The replacement worked well the first time I used it, but the second time using it was hard to turn the handle to get it to pump, the third time I used it, the handle was next to impossible to turn, like the pump insides were rusted up or something?? I finally got it to work somewhat by blasting WD40 down into the mechanism through the vent plug at the top of the pump body, still hard to turn, but I did get it to pump by using two hands and working hard. Something is not right with this pump. I have contacted the Manufacturer and will see what they say. I have used one of the Piston pumps for several years at my work and it was very dependable. I think I should have paid the extra $30 dollars or so and got the Piston version of this pump. Very disappointed to say the least.I will update this review: I have contacted the Manufacturer and they are very receptive and are working with me to get this taken care of, and their customer service seems to be very good. Update when it is resolved. I Emailed the Company, and I must say, while I was disappointed in the Rotary pump, this Company's Customer Service is GREAT! They sent me the piston pump version of this pump Model FR150 which was an upgrade, and it seems to work wonderfully. I would recommend buying from this Company anytime.

The pump itself is great, works very well. I also ordered the fill right filter kit which I highly suggest you do as well. Installation is straight forward. Just be sure and use Teflon tape on all fittings. The long section of pipe that is included with the filter kit was way too long for my application. I didn’t want my filter hanging 10” away from the pump. This creates a lot of leverage and I can see the cast pump being damaged accidentally with that much leverage so I used a short piece of pipe I had laying around to get it mounted closer. If I had to go to the store I would have bought one about twice as long but this was laying around in a bin at the shop so I used it.All in all I am very happy with the fill rite pump and filter set up. I got the pump on amazon warehouse for $125 so I’m at around $160 for pump and filter. Not bad for something that should easily last a lifetime. It’s light years ahead of my old cheap made in China pump that leaked everywhere.

I stopped using my 275 gallon above ground sled mounted steel diesel tank. At 69 years old, I no longer use my equipment enough to keep my fuel fresh. In 2006 the EPA mandated the reduction of sulfur content in diesel fuel from 500ppm (parts per million) to 15ppm in the US. This included on road highway diesel, and off-road dyed diesel fuels. Sulfur performed two important functions. It added lubricity to the fuel, AND it is also a natural Biocide. At 15ppm the sulfur content is too low to support these two important functions. To offset this deficiency lubricating agents are added at the refining level, but the Biocide function in ultra low sulfur diesel (15ppm) is, in my experience, lacking.Just like Ethanol blended gasoline, the usable shelf life of currently available diesel fuel has been greatly reduced. What does this have to do with the Fill-Rite FR152 hand pump I purchased? I mounted a 40 gallon diesel tank in the bed of my PU truck (gasoline engine). I easily use enough fuel to keep 40 gallon increments fresh, and am able to purchase federal tax exempt off-road dyed diesel on site from my distributor who formerly delivered my fuel. A hand operated piston pump, like the FR152, is ideally suited for a small 40 gallon tank.In case you are wondering, yes, you can mount a filter on this pump. Remove the anti-drain back valve from the top of the pump (# 8 in the parts list). Install it on the side of the pump where the hose goes (remove hose if installed). Install a ~2-1/2" long 3/4" NPT steel pipe nipple with a 90 degree 3/4" elbow attached in the top of the pump where you removed the anti-drain back valve (this is now the pump outlet). Thread in a 3/4" NPT steel pipe nipple into the 90 degree elbow (keep pipe nipples as short as possible). Add a Fill-Rite 1200KTG9075 Cast Iron Filter Head (available on Amazon). Add a Fill-Rite F1810PM0 particulate filter (available on Amazon), or the filter of your choice. Just make sure it will fit the 1200KTG9075 Cast Iron Filter Head. Finally thread your hose into the outlet of the filter adapter. Pipe nipple lengths will vary with individual applications. The FR152 pump is made of cast aluminum, and every inch of added extension from the pump increases leverage. Keep your pipe nipples short as possible.Last, but not least, the FR152 pump is working Great.

First of all, the instructions are clear and easy to follow. It was very easy to assemble and the pump works really well. Also, the counter is a very useful addition to the pump, letting you know exactly how much fluid you’re pumping out.It is well made, of a very sturdy construction. So far it looks to be reliable and should give years of service. All in all a well made, nice bit of kit. Highly recommend.
