The instinctive feeding habit is the foundation behind Bug Bites, which are formulated with nutrient-rich insect larvae and enriched with multiple quality proteins, vitamins, minerals and trace elements. Most freshwater fish are omnivores and regularly feed on insects in the wild. However, not all insects are created equally when it comes to a fish’s diet. Bug Bites are formulated with sustainably harvested Black Soldier Fly Larvae (#1 ingredient across all formulas), which are raised on fruits and vegetables for exceptional “super food” nutrition. Using a unique cultivation process, BSFL are grown under controlled conditions for total sustainability that preserves natural environments. Under controlled conditions, Black Soldier Flies produce larvae, which naturally feed on decaying organic matter. Unconsumed fruits and vegetables are used as larvae feed. The larvae consume the feed, converting the nutrients into protein and healthy fat. After a 2-week feeding cycle, the larvae are harvested and dried. The dried larvae are mixed with other high-quality proteins, vitamins, minerals and trace elements to offer a complete and balanced daily diet. I've found that the not only the bottom feeder will go to this food, but the regular fish seem to seek it out also. Fish took to this brand of food with no problem. I was worried they wouldn't accept it after changing brands.

These are great for plecos since their diet can't sustain off of algae alone. I also have cory's that go crazy for this stuff too and seem to really like it. If you're looking for a good food for more carnivorous fish as well my synodontis also like this a lot and it's one of the best ways to get them out since they like to hide. I also have spotted raphaels that prefer this food as well. If you're looking for a good all around bottom feeding food this is a great choice. Lasted me awhile too even between 7 tanks and over 300 gallons of water between all of them.

Bought these to supplement the diet of my algae eaters. Most of the pieces sink well. My only issue is that my fish gobble them up.

For my Plec and they sink really fast which stops my mollies trying to knock them about. Far better than the wafers which are much lighter.

I have been feeding this to my 20+ year old, one eyed, foot long, common pleco for the last few years as one of the foods I have in rotation. He seems to really enjoy the food. I have found he has difficulty getting a hold of the other brands algae wafers because of their round shape but not with these sticks. He has no difficulty grabbing a hold of this food and munching away. The food is of good consistent quality and size. I would not hesitate to recommend this food for any bottom feeders.
