How to Grow as Bonsai

To grow our lemon tree seeds as bonsai:

  1. Start with our lemon seeds
  2. Plant in well-draining bonsai soil mix
  3. Begin pruning when seedling reaches 6-8 inches
  4. Wire branches while young and flexible (6-12 months)
  5. Maintain small pot size to restrict root growth
  6. Regularly trim new growth to maintain shape
  7. Fertilize monthly with balanced bonsai fertilizer
  8. Keep soil moist but not waterlogged

Note: Expect first fruits in 3-4 years, though they'll be smaller than regular lemons. Trees need bright light and temperatures above 55°F.

I planted quite a few of these in very favorable germination conditions 4 1/2 weeks ago. Not a single one has germinated.
