I bought to use exclusively as a display unit for my life saver , the Garmin RVR 315, although the unit has many other functions . I used the Garminiq app to install my bike radar traffic app , then entered the setting to display the vehicle relative , absolute speed and distance . I created a screen contains only the data , so numbers appear large and easy to read . I deleted and deactivated all other data . I took it out for a few rides and worked like a champ , alerting my to the vehicles , and the speed , relative speed and absolute speed for vehicles behind . I am also using the live tracking function , so my family track my progress while I am on the road biking . The unit has numerous functions , but I am using the cyclometer iPhone app with a polar H heart rate monitor for every thing else . Make sure to have the Garmin connect app running on your phone . After the ride , you can use the Garmin connect app to view your ride with a ton of data and stat . I love it , it was worth every penny

Works like the dashboard on the car. Speed, direction, miles, map my ride, auto pause, calories. It does everything I need for a long ride and the battery will last 10+ hours.

I use this on my road bicycle every time I go out. I love that I can select which items I want on my main screen and which arrangement best suits my needs. I like time, temperature, speed, %grade, & trip distance traveled. Your smart phone enables safety features to notify your emergency contacts. There is also an alarm to alert you to someone tampering with your bike. The signals for drink reminders and for approaching traffic (if you have the optional radar component) are easily heard, and displays are easily read. I fell once, and the attachments were very secure. What I wish I could do is add 'undocumented' miles (at first, I'd forget to turn on the Garmin). I love being able to see the degree of rise in hills and also to know the temperature. I don't use any extra monitors, so cannot comment on their effectiveness. Mapping features have been little used by me. I know the maps are accurate, but have never ridden in an area where I needed them. This piece of equipment is TMI for some, but I really appreciate having the info, and there are a number of features I have not yet used. I highly recommend this Garmin!

I just got the Garmin 830 sensor bundle touch screen cycling computer. The size is perfect. Touch screen works well. The display is easily visible during the ride and very responsive. There is an option where you can plot your course by using the Garmin App on your phone and then you can push the course to the Garmin. For my first ride, it gave me a lot of “off course” alerts as when the route was created, it sometimes had me on the highway vs. the bike path. The GPS by default was set for Smart mode, probably designed to save battery life. But If you look at the pictures of my ride, it cuts corners. I changed the setting to every second and I will see how it goes. I used the speed sensor and the cadence sensors which I like a lot. I could not find a way to tell the speed sensor which straps to the wheel axel the size of my tires. On your ride you can swipe the screen to see different pages of data. One of the screens has a nice picture view of the on coming elevation changes so you know in advance if a hill is coming, if your close to finishing a climb or it you will be going down a hill. Another change I had to make was to add the heart rate data field to the Garmin. By default, Garmin does not include heart rate on any of the screens even though a HR strap is included in the box. It was easy to add during my ride and now it’s there moving forward. The 830 also assumed my ride was a Mountain ride. There is a setting under Activity Profiles that lets you change your Default Ride Type. Over all I am pleased with this new model and I highly recommend it. The price hurts a little.

I did alot of research before deciding on this unit. It has way more features then I’ll ever use but that means it has everything I need.It is a bit of a struggle to setup. For some reason the Bluetooth pairing initially kept failing. A simple reboot of both phone and garmin fixed the issue. The touchscreen works fine but is a bit slow to respond to touch. Not terrible though.Battery life seems good enough but I imagine about 8 hours of use is the most you’ll get out of a new unit. I’d recommendation charge after every 5 hour ride or so.I only road bike these days. I use Strava routes, the map features, and a HRM. for my display I have mph, distance, time riding, HR, and 5 mile laps.Uploading courses/routes from garmin connect and/Strava is easy. The map feature has worked flawlessly for me and let me know if upcoming turns with plenty of advanced notice. It even warns of upcoming sharp curves. The notification alerts is a bonus. Seeing texts come in and knowing weather or not I need to pull over to respond is a nice feature. The emergency feature is nice as well. I accidentally sent an emergency response while trying to turn the unit off and my family responded immediately. Oops.Unfortunately, after my third ride with this unit, I dropped it and the upper left corner of the screen cracked. While I had no issues with the unit and it’s functions, I was concerned about water seeping into the unit and destroying it. I emailed garmin support to let them know I would be willing to pay to have the screen replaced. They responded very quickly and said they would cover the unit under warranty. Wow!! That my friends is how you do it.Can’t say enough about garmin support. Top notch. Had a replacement unit in my hands within 10 days. They have my business
