There is a slot in one end of the flat steel that you can put a soft rag through. It is flexible so that you can push the rag around underneath the strings to remove the dust.

I used a microfiber cloth and pushed it through the opening and arranged it in a way to not scratch the soundboard. Slipped it through the narrow spaced and cleaned the soundboard. Lots of dust was removed easily. Amazing.

This is a basic tool for cleaning under your piano's strings. The design is a standard one. You have to use it with care, though, as the part the cleaning cloth attaches to could easily scratch the soundboard is you are not careful in using it. I would like it much better if there were some sort of guard for the end.

Cleaner was not easy to use and doesn’t reach everywhere on a baby grand piano. Didn’t dust well. Overall I expected more from this product and was disappointed.

Works well. I’m glad I bought it. After seeing so many pianos with years worth of accumulated dust, I was convinced to keep mine cleaner. This fits the bill quite well, allowing me to slide a cloth under the strings to get at any dust. The only negative is that it is metal, which means it is necessary to take care not to scratch the piano case when manipulating it to get under the strings. That could be minimized if either the devise was made of a different material or the edges were rounded more.
