Compared to standard materials, you'll hear crystal clear bell-like high end, big open lows, and a noticeable increase in overall sustain. Unlike natural materials such as bone and ivory, TUSQ is consistent from piece to piece. Without a doubt, this is the best synthetic material on the market, and it cuts and files beautifully.

It was a bit of a project to get it sanded down, but so worth it. You can really hear and feel the increased resonance, and compared to the knockered stock nut on my SG, this feels like a whole new guitar. I had no idea!

I put this nut on my LTD with Locking tuners, my locking nut was a special so the threading started stripping out. This nut with the tuners was a great improvement in sound, sustain, and string changes. I used the website to pick the right nut and then ordered off Amazon for a cheaper price. My nut came with a tiny glob preventing it from sitting flush against the fretboard. It wasn’t a big deal, I knew I would need to sand some areas already. I will definitely buy graph tech again compared to all the fake bone nuts on Amazon.

Had to sand down the bottom to get the fit/intonation right and the sides a little too, but it's still a huge upgrade versus the nut I had. I used to have to use graphite or some kind of lubricant on my old but to keep my strings from getting stuck in the nut while I was tuning but now it's as smooth as butter with this nut. I would definitely recommend but be prepared to do some sanding to get it right.

This was for a Gibson SG standard. It was very tall and required a lot of sanding for hight. The width was spot on and the length was good. I installed a Duesenberg tremolo (which I love) and a roller bridge. I noticed the old nut was binding so I went with this one and it works much better. I first noticed the improvement when I tuned the strings and it was smooth with no binding. Also the black looks cool. Very happy with purchase.

I am very happy with this. My new Les Paul would not stay in tune (specifically, the G string). This nut fixed the issue. Be prepared to do a lot of sanding, though. They're made a bit on the big side (better that than too small).

Just a little sanding and adjustment and it fit nicely on my SG. Just take your time and be willing to work on it for bit to get it right. I made fit snug into the nut slot, so I didn't even use any glue. Had to remove it serval times, but I didn't want to over sand it. I'm sure a luthier could do a better job, but I'm cheap and like to DIY as much as possible. As long as you don't mess with the nut slot too much the worse that can happen is you have to put the old nut back on or get another one. Cheap upgrade and black is beautiful.

I bought this to replace the bone nut that my local shop installed on my Paul. The action was way too high. I took it to the local shop and had the Tektoid nut removed and opted for a bone nut. The setup was still aweful. I asked the technician if there was any way to make it play better. After paying for a fret redress and truss rod adjutment. It was a tiny bit better but the strings were still way too far from the neck. I asked him to take a little bit of height out of the nut, as I was deperate for an expensive guitar like a Les Paul to play like, well a Gibson Les Paul and not an acoustic. Still no help. I decided that I had put enough money in this new Les Paul. I done some research and also have had issues with the dreaded G string ping with every Les Paul I have owned. I went to change strings, bone nut fell out of it's slot. I decided to try the Graph Tech Black Jumbo XL. I had to order a second as the first one I sanded too far down and had to buy another and measure correctly. I am very happy with the performance of this nut. As my action is still too high for my liking but tolerable. The quality of sound has increased by quite a bit. Especially open cords. They ring out beautifully and the sustain seem to go forever. The best part is that I no longer need to buy Nut Sauce or use graphite to keep the G string from pinging. This nut eliminates all of that. I am still not happy with my action but I know the reason is not the nut. I will use these exclusively from now on. A must for Les Paul owners, do yourself a favor and avoid bone altogether.

This was such a great fit it took very little sanding and filing for an awesome fit, ( I did not have to file the string slots) It was for my Gibson SG USA special because the nut from the Gibson factory was terrible. I put a new set of nanoweb 10-46 strings and for the hell of it I didn't stretch the strings and it has stayed in tune so well, the slots fit 10's awesome I didn't have to get my nut files out, The sustain goes for days now ( it was about about 7 seconds with the stock nut to close to 20 seconds with the graph tech nut on a clean setting on my amp ) and when I use a pedal or gain forget about it, I have to mute the strings to stop the sustain now. Just what I wanted plus the black nut looks so much better than white that starts to look like crap when using graphite in the white nut, now because it is self lubricating I don't have to use graphite or nut lube.
