Ordered this wooden growth chart for our toddler's room. After a couple of DIY improvements, we are very happy with the end result.We love that it is real, solid wood. It's thicker and more substantial than the inferior quality particle board growth chart that we replaced, which never laid flat against the wall. It also looks a lot nicer with the natural wood, rather than the silly cartoon images on the thin, warped, flimsy particle board growth chart. With the solid wood board construction and metal fastener plates, this new Mengliky growth chart should last indefinitely and be able to accommodate younger siblings' measurements, and even future grandkids' markings. The design is simple, yet modern and attractive, so it will grow with our child and remain appropriate at any age.Upon receipt of this wooden growth chart, we did notice a few rough spots on the wood surface and edges, as well as on the metal attachment plates that are used to attach the wooden sections together on the sides. These rough spots posed potential harm to little hands that might scrape or scratch against them. The problem was easily fixed by smoothing the wood surface with fine-grit sandpaper, and the metal plate pieces were filed down until smooth with a metal file to remove the sharp edges. Would have been nice if manufacturer had smoothed out the finish on these pieces, especially when they're made for children, but I suppose they are made in bulk and details can be overlooked. Not a deal-breaker though, it was easy enough to fix and only took a few minutes.The last DIY improvement we did wasn't necessary, but it was really worth the effort to us and took it to a whole new level. Being natural, solid wood, we decided to apply a couple coats of Minwax polyurethane stain (Golden Oak, satin finish) that we had on hand. We tested it on the backside first of course, and after seeing the result, we applied it to the front and sides with confidence. It came out absolutely beautiful. It enhanced the natural character and color of the wood, and made the wood grain design pop. So pretty.Again, the poly-stain isn't necessary and the growth chart looks just fine without it. However, we are thrilled with the results and would do it all over again in a heartbeat. The sanding of rough edges is necessary, in my opinion, to prevent unintentional scraping or scratching to skin that may rub against it. I have to remove a star because of the oversight in finishing. If you don't mind the quick fix, it is well worth the purchase. It is a quality piece with lots of potential.

Once the sign was put together it was obvious the pieces had different shades and the lines were everywhere. I don’t care as I was going to paint it.Was a fun time project for a few days and was lots of fun to do.Now I’m naming another one for a family and his kiddo.PS No hardware to attach the pieces are included.

I bought this for my sister who is having a baby. I wanted something unique for the baby shower and this certainly fits the bill. When it's put together, it looks like a giant yard stick. It looks so cute in the nursery and it's something she will use for years to come. The set also includes little arrow stickers to mark the child's height.

Positives: solid wood, markings are engraved, not painted on. I wanted something I could customize. I intend to paint it to match my nephews walls and will paint the engraved portions to match his accent wall.Negative: The wood grain between panels doesn’t match.The one negative is a non issue if you intend to paint it.I love it enough that I will be purchasing a second one for my daughter.

When I bought it I was expecting a one piece board. Instead I received a box with 4 pieces, no instructions, no way to attach the pieces together. What am I saying to do with it now? Return is my only option. If it was in one piece it wouldve been a beautiful board!
