This review is for the Kylebooker Screw-in Studs for Wading Boots,26pcs Fishing Wading Boot Studs for Felt Or Rubber SoleMy husband used these Kylebooker studs to replace the studs on his SIMMS wading boots. The Kylebooker studs are shorter but were initially a satisfactory replacement. After a summer of fishing (he flyfishes in rocky streams), the studs are beginning to show some wear and pulling out. While the Kylebooker studs are not as durable or long-lasting as the original SIMMS studs that came with his boots, they are less expensive than the SIMMS replacement studs.

I got these to replace studs in my Simms wading boots. The price for 26 studs is good and they arrived very fast. My biggest complaint is that they don’t last long if you’re walking over rocks, which is what I’m doing when I’m fishing. I fish areas that are covered in bowling ball sized rocks and these studs don’t hold up very well. They definitely offer some grip to keep you from slipping, but they wear down pretty fast and they pop out easily due to the short shank length. The shorter length of the studs makes screwing them in easy, but it also allows them to fall out easy. I would suggest adding a drop of waterproof super glue to each stud before installing it, which is what I’ll do next time.

As with most wader boots you need studs to help keep your footing . These studs are nice and come with its own wrench to help you install them . I installed them on my Simms G3 boots looking for a cheaper alternative to their( Simms) proprietary overly priced studs . They look to be of high quality steel but only time will tell , I fish a lot so I’ll know how they hold up in a few months then give a full review . Best to use a dab of silicone or superglue gel when you screw them in or you will loose a few … The silicone and superglue will hold them till you want them out .., also use a drill to install them it’s much faster and simple as could be ..

It's a good value set of 26 wading boot studs. They should work on both felt and rubber, but it's always recommended to check the size of the screw. Also many states today prohibit the use of felt to avoid cross-contamination. I'm replacing Goat Head studs on my Redington Prowler-PRO rubber sole wading boots. The metal seems better and I'm going to give a try to this round profile (it's similar to snow shoe studs). The pack comes with a 2in x 2in tool that is not too heavy to pack for the road.

Excellent for replacing worn or missing studs and the small box with install tool fits in your pack so you can replace a pop out while on the stream (which will happen with these since the screw is on the shorter end of the spectrum). A lot of people use glue. I'm going to try Loctite which I've never done before. The nubs on the top give a better traction than hex head utility screws but they are small and depending on hardness of metal this is they could wear down fast on rocks. I'll have to update after I get experience how long they last.

50% pulled out on the first trip and the rest came out on the next trip. Studs are only 3/8" long. I got some #6 X 1/2" hex head screws and they worked better than the studs. My waders had rubber soles so I don't know how they would have worked in felt soles (illegal to use in fresh water up here in Alaska).

I often fish from a kayak but I do wade once in awhile also. I have some cheaper brand boots that are fairly comfortable and are holding up well. I was looking for a little extra traction and these seem to offer what I have been after so far. I just screwed them into the felt using the tool provided in a pattern that seemed logical to me. The studs have held up well and I haven't lost any from the bottom of the boots in 3 uses so far. I have noticed a difference of grip I have had in the stream I often fish. I know I'll eventually need to break down and get a rubber sole boot but while I can get away with my felt around where I live, these are getting the job done.

Some locations, such as the state of Maryland, have banned felt-sole wading boots. This is to prevent the transfer of invasive species from one body of water to another. In cases where you cannot wear felt, it is important to add traction to your waiting footwear. You can do this by using studs in your wading boots. This set comes with 26 studs and a tool to insert (or remove) the studs.

The studs where easy to install.I am starting with 6 studs to test.Tip! It helps to really secure the studs by applying a drop of crazy glue before securing them in place.
