Ordered and the first unit came with housing broken. Ordered replacement and it came with misaligned impeller cover. Impeller will not turn. Beware this product. Do not buy.

Works well although the product came somewhat banged up. All was still functional and the damages made no difference. I fitted this into a Nutone CV400 unit. Initially there was a bad seal between the motor housing and the vacuum body, after sealing this with some caulking and adjusting the housing gasket, it works exceptionally well. This is a little larger than what I removed and did require a little extra work to have a proper fit and function but well worth it compared to buying a whole central vac unit.

Make sure you have the right model number, but this was a perfect replacement for the built- in vacuum! Disassembly and reassembly was a pain, because it requires complete disassembly of the unit. But, that's not the motor manufacturer's fault.Seems to work well, and doesn't have any strange noises after the first 6 months. Hopefully it will give us another 20 years, like the original!

Purchased this product from another vendor a little over a year ago. Good price for this motor but disappointed in its durability. Not waiting on Ametek to respond I went ahead and replaced it with another motor then packaged it and sent it back to Ametek for them to decide on why the motor failed. I did hear from them and apparently there was dust build up on the blades. They agreed to send me a replacement the first of the year. I will look for an additional filter for the top of my system. My vacuum motor originally lasted almost 18years.

Works great, supppper fast shipping! Easy install! And most inexpensive on amazon. Went to dealers around me and all lied about not being able to get this part b/c no longer made, tried to get me to replace my central vac for $1000+ decided to check online for parts and bang only $75. Saved $925!

These motors are very easy to replace, but let me start at the beginning. My central vac uses two of these motors, and each pair seems to only last about 20 years. I went to the web and searched on something like "motors for (my vac model)". A number of companies urged replacing them oneself, and gave the motor numbers, and the modern replacement, some Lamb part number. They all sold the motors, of course, but at twice the price of the same thing on Amazon. Before ordering, I recommend taking off the vacuum cleaner cover to see what's involved. (Unplug the vac or flip the circuit breaker first). I had to remove only four screws to see the motors, each of which was supported only by a rubber ring. Each motor had only two wires, to be unplugged from the control board. (There's also a ground wire that attaches under a screw on the motor). The Amazon motors don't have connectors so one would need to either buy replacements at an automotive store or cut the old motor wires make the connection using wire nuts. Once you have the covers off, to give yourself courage, you can always phone a serviceman and see what he and his retail motors would cost. You can always bail out half way through ... whatever you did or take apart wouldn't have damaged anything.
