These are the best sounding D and A strings for my (and most) 'cellos. Unfortunately, they are VERY expensive! Note: at least on my 'cello, the "soloist edition" has more "cut" but sounds more glassy.

I bought this for my. Cello. This string seems to be good; I am having a problem with a “scratchy” sound. It could be because it’s new and/or because of the new rosin I just bought I know it takes a few days for these two to warm up.

There is no possibility of returning the product once you used it. The other Larsen strings I bought are ok and still being used, but this one is not that good. The sound is not very beautiful, and I doubt it is defective, but it is not allowed to return, anyway.

Larsen strings are my go to choice. They provide an instant, controlled response under the bow. These are the regular strings, not the soloist edition. The difference being: these are warmer in tone and do not project as much. This is actually preferable to me. I've used both, however, and can say beyond all doubt that the soloist strings will give you better tone and response in positions above 4th.The Larsen D provides a rich, creamy tone that is often very difficult to achieve in a D string.I use Larsen fairly exclusively for my A and D strings, and am completely satisfied with their tone, response, and character. I couldn't ask for better strings.

Update: I tried Larsen's Strong upper strings and preferred them to the medium ones. Give them a try if you think you need more projection without the harshness (or price) of the soloist editions. In my opinion, Larsen strings are the best. However, they're quite expensive. If you want to try something similar, especially with more brightness and projection, go for a Jargar A and D.These upper strings typically go with Spirocore tungsten-wound G and C or Larsen Wirecore or Magnacore G and C. I particularly recommend the Magnacore G and C strings.

Johnson Strings was rapid in their response and delivery of the cello strings. For the A and D strings Larsen is the best and is used by serious amatures such as myself as well as many professional cellists.
