STEP 1 – FAMILIARITY

Begin with just 2 or 3 magnets , something you already do on a daily basis would be a great choice

Talk about each magnet so your child will start to recognise what it is for, refer to the word on the magnet so you stay consistent

EXAMPLE

Start with Now we are going to put our shoes on

Then move onto Now we are going to put our shoes on Then we will put our coat on

STEP 2 – EXPANDING

Once your child has got the hang of it increase the magnets one at a time until you have a complete routine.

Your child should now be able to use the magnets independently, through may need prompting to start using them, remember to keep praising and being delighted by how grown up they are becoming

STEP 3 – BUILDING IT UP

Now that they have gained their routine confidence, its time to start gradually building their next routine, keep it slow and fun with positive reinforcements.

If they find it tricky , no problem, try one of the below options which should give you a bit more information so you can troubleshoot

1. give them a few days to reset themselves and try again

2. try changing some of the magnets, it maybe they may find certain ones tricky for some reason

3. make a routine of all the magnets they love, does that work ?
