Top quality materials and construction. Having the lock access at a right angle to the pin is an added convenience, making locking or unlocking handy and quick. I have a typical F150 and there is no need to get down on hands and knees to reach it.

Locks like these are so often cheap. At least the feel cheap and not very strong. This lock is a good lock for this type of lock. It is made of quality material.Would buy again.Shipping was prompt, and in good condition.PS: Be sure to double check the size you need. This one’s shaft is larger than the standard hole for most hitches.

Pluses: Fits as expected. Much easier to install and uninstall than my original lock . Unlike other reviews, the rubber cap has stayed secure for over 6,000 miles of towing.Minus: Because the lock end wants to swing down, inserting the key (being directional) you need to keep the orientation in mind.Overall, A Good Buy.

Bought this hitch lock after fighting with an old, rusted, hard to access no-name brand lock that was petrified onto my hitch. This lock appears high quality construction and materials and I love the 90 degree angle lock mechanism. The key is large allowing someone with normal man-hands to hold the key and operate the lock. The old lock I replaced had a micro-sized donut key that was custom-sized for a spider monkey. The Master Lock key is much easier to use and the lock mechanism works smoothly when installing and removing. It is easy to 'pull-check' to make sure it is firmly latched and swivels cleanly. I did pull the sleeve off and applied some lithium grease to the shaft as well as added some lithium grease to the key hole and lock interior...a little tip based on years of experience. Re-lube when you do an oil change and you'll avoid the classic seized up locks of yesteryear.

If I was rating this immediately out of the box for ease of use, and the look of quality, I would have rated this lock much higher. I purchased this in August, 2023. It is now March, 2024, and both keys would not even slide into the lock, despite the dust/debris cover always being on, and the lock maintained with graphite.I live in a climate with four distinct seasons, so this lock saw the tail end of summer, fall, and a fairly mild Wisconsin winter. Keep in mind that means the lock could see a lot of road salt/spray, but it does have a protective cap for this. Alas, the debris cover did not keep debris out. I saw salt chunks, and salt residue that had turned to paste. If your in an always warm climate this may be a non-factor, but I'd imagine dust would also get in there.Despite cleaning the lock, and even blowing it out with an air compressor, the lock would not accept either key, and my B&W Hitch system could not be taken off to move to my new truck. As a result, I took my grinder, and metal cutting wheel, and cut the lock pin through in under 20 seconds. It is true that almost any lock can be cut, whether with power tools, or even lock cutters, but I was alarmed that this seemed to be mild steel, and I was through it so fast. You can see from the photos that the steel is not hardened, and there isn't even any blueing of the steel from the heat. It didn't have enough time to even get hot.I think Master Lock has the right design, but they are using cheap material. Do better.

I replaced my previous lockable receiver pin and I'm really glad I did so. The lock is easily accessible and the locking cylinder turns with ease. The other brand I had constantly bound up making the key difficult to turn, even when oiled. No issues with this lock at all. The rubber lock cover keeps water and other contaminants out. I have no idea how "secure" the lock really is, but at least it will slow down someone from stealing my hitch.I'm giving two thumbs up and a buy recommendation on this receiver lock.

I recently upgraded my receiver hitch and wanted to protect my investment by purchasing a quality lock. After researching different locks and reading all the reviews, I settled on the Master Lock 1469DAT. It fit my F-150 receiver with room to spare. Some reviews have noted issues with the O-ring and lock not opening or closing easily. When I received this lock, I brushed a thin coat of bearing grease on the inside of the lock including the locking cam and O-ring which greatly increased the locking ease of the lock. During this time, I found that the key needs to be in the lock for the locking cam to release and engage the end of the shaft. This was confirmed in the instructions which also said that the lock will engage the shaft with a positive "click" which then allows the key to be pulled out of the locking end.Overall, I like the anti-theft design of the lock which doesn't make it easy for a hammer, pipe or prybar to be used to bend or break either end of the lock off while on your receiver. No lock is perfect but I didn't read anywhere on the internet where this lock had been easily compromised. As with all locks, with enough time and opportunity, any lock can be compromised. Hopefully, this lock won't make it easy.7/2011 Update:I bought a second lock to use on my Bulldog hitch. Other than a few 1/4" shaft locks that are easily broken off with a hammer, I thought I would use this lock. I drill out the 1/4" hole to 5/8" and slipped this lock in the new hole. It prevents the coller from sliding past the hole and unlocking the receiver ball. I bought this longer shafted lock to prevent a prybar from gaining purchase between the lock and the hitch. Drilling out the hole was no easy task but now that I have the this second lock in place, I feel a heck of a lot more confident that my trailer won't be an easy target.
