About this item

  • MAJOR UPGRADE FROM "STOCK" STARTER CYMBALS: these are not those distractingly cheap, flimsy prop cymbals that come with most drum sets; Meinl HCS cymbals have impressive sound and sturdy feel geared toward beginner/intermediate players
  • WHY IT MATTERS: playing HCS cymbals will sound more like what you hear in actual songs, making the drums even more fun to play; plus, they aren't going to fall apart, dent, or bend after a few uses like stock cymbals
  • WHAT'S IN THE BOX: includes one 16" crash cymbal; this crash cuts through music with a clear attack and balanced sustain that doesn't linger too long; it delivers exceptional punch to accent the beat, and it blends with all other HCS crash sizes
  • DRIVING THE SOUND: made in Germany with MS63 brass alloy for a clean, bright, and crisp tone; substantial thickness with well-formed surface grooves and hammer marks give you a defined sound without clangy or ear-piercing overtones
  • CATCH UP QUICK: HCS exceeds expectations because Meinl brings experience crafting cymbals since 1951; we make HCS and other lines in our German factory, and our top-of-the-line professional Byzance cymbals are hand hammered in Turkey from cast B20 bronze
  • ZOOM IN: the surface shimmers and shines under light, which is a bonus if you like your kit to look beautiful; HCS cymbals also feature the same logo treatment as our professional lines, including a small laser engraved logo and serial number
  • OF NOTE: you can find any sound in the seemingly never-ending selection of cymbal types in the HCS line; all essentials in multiple sizes are covered along with effects cymbals that let you expand your sound with variety
  • THE BOTTOM LINE: this is a German made, top-quality entry level cymbal that resembles more high-end models with its crisp, bright tone and musical feel; it has a long lifespan, even for hard hitters, and fits any musical style

These brass alloy models sound and look great, and let you get into playing MEINL at very realistic prices. The HCS series from MEINL is designed to offer all of the cymbal types and sizes normally found in professional lines to beginners in order to deliver the same sound options a working drummer may look for. The HCS 16" crash provides a warm crash sound with a medium sustain that blends well with other small or large HCS cymbals. Enhance and round out the sound of your drum kit by combining this model with the smaller 14" crash and a 20" ride cymbal. Meinl HCS cymbals are recommended for any style of music a beginner may be getting into while exploring their sound.

The tone is so much crisper on the new Meinl 18" crash than the 20 year old one I finally beat into submission.

I honestly thought it was going to sound a little cheap, but it’s actually great. Very good price, and so far I have no complaints!

Bought a 16" and 18" Meinl cymbals. Well constructed and they really do beat the price all other brands for a pro tier cymbal. Make you wonder why those other guys charge so much!?Pros = Great price. Well made. Solid and durable. Look great. Can be used for various music styles.Cons = Seems I have to hit them harder than other cymbals to get the sound I want. Thus only 4 stars.I will come back and edit the con if I find I just need to hit it in a different manner or the like. I've only done 1 gig with them. I play gigs weekly.UPDATE: Having bought the 16" and 18" crashes, in playing medium to large venues now where I could lay into them more; YES they sound good. They don't sound like $400 cymbals but I would buy them again because they are good and solid. Also, I think they will last at least twice as long as my more pricey perfect sounding cymbals too!

I just upgraded to a full acoustic set after playing electronic for a couple years - so I need all new cymbals to go with the kit - This pack was great - a great price for # of cymbals you get. Everything sounds great you can cover a bunch of different genre's with the cymbals included. Very happy!

I bought a PDP z5 5 piece kit with cymbals and hardware for $300 about ten years ago. The drums themselves are good but the hardware fell apart easily and the cymbals were terrible. I decided to fix them up and bought this cymbal pack and some Evans hydraulic red heads to do so. I am very pleased with these. I went from having hi-hats that sounded like two trash can lids banging together to having proper tss ts ts tssss tss tss ts ts man you know what they sound like. For 300 bucks this is a mint deal. I don't even have enough stands for all the cymbals that came with this and I'm still happy with hi hats , a crash and a ride. Highly recommend!

I have been playing about a year and a half, and I might not be the most experienced player, but I know my stuff. This cymbal is well worth about 100$! For this price, you could get another good cymbal, but not with all of the qaulities of this cymbal. The Meinl 16" HCS Crash is a great cymbal for begginers or pros, it is extremley durable, loud, and tough. I beat the heck outta my cymbals, but i hit em the right way so they last, and this one especially puts up with a lot. An overall great buy, GET YOURSELF ONE!

They got here 7 days or so after I ordered Cuz an issue. Packed well everything sounds great except the China its just really weird idk it might work in a lil more and sound OK. I researched these for a wail and am very glade I got them. The crashes sound robust and sharp with a medium ring. the ride has good ping and a sweet bell. The hi hats sound great nice and chingy and the splash has a great tone and its sharp with a loud ring. The china just seems like it was dasigned for shipping. Anyone looking at these asking is it worth it I say 100%. I've been playing for years and I play thrash and deathcore metal and im very pleased with the over all cymbals quality and sound.
